Question The Abyss - Dedication?

Who was the guy that the movie was dedicated to? The name was Captain Pierce (?didn't catch the next bit?) Brewer Junior. Anyone know who he is/was?

He was one of the actors in this movie. He died shortky after "The Abyss" He Played Lew "Bird-Dog" Finler, who died in this movie as well (It was the scene, where a part of Deepcore gets flooded, and Harris/Bud tries to unlock the door, to free Brewer/Finler).
