Ready Kafka??

long time fan of SpaceBalls. However, I never understood this joke before the spaceballs ship turns into a maid dark helmet says : "ready kafka"

any1 knows what does it mean?

a reference to a short story called Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, which tells of a man who awakes one day to find he has transformed into an insect.

I definitely did not get that joke when I first saw the movie. It wasn't until 8 years later, when I was in my last year in high school and read "The Metamorphosis," that I understood it. I love literary references. If you understand them, they can be hilarious.
