Abrams' STAR TREK: Year One

nuTrek came out a year ago today.

Hard to believe.

Trek 2.0 was released Friday May 8th 2009.

I'm no fan of Jar Jar Abrams' ST'09 movie myself. Just noting the anniversary of a pivotal event in ST's franchise history.

Delta Vega was a cool place. But that has nothing to do with the movie itself. Delta Vega? Couldn't they at least have called it something else?

Trek 11's Delta Vega, cool or not, was a rip-off of Hoth & Rura Penthe. Rura Penthe itself was a Hoth rip-off IMO.

Its OK, I like snow planets, so it doesn't matter.

I enjoyed Leonard Nimoy's scenes, being they'll be his last as Spock.

Aside from DV & Real Spock, the movie was bah.

Except Delta Vega was already used in the original show. It was where Kirk killed Gary Mitchell in the Where No Man has Gone Before pilot of TOS. And it wasn't an ice planet.

How do you get to Rura Penthe being a rip-off of Hoth? Hoth was simply a barren ice world being used as a hideout by the Rebels. Rura Penthe is a Klingon prison planet, with virtually no way to escape. Unless you want to freeze to death trying to get past the transporter scrambler.

That was why I said they should've called Delta Vega in Trek 11 something else.

Only in that Hoth & Rura Penthe are snow planets. That's all.
