Re: Forum upgrade

Ramses would it be possible to change the "in forums" view to reflect the lists of forums?

As in have the preview bits of threads the same size as the forum descriptions to make it easier to browse?

(And I've posted a lot shorter posts, but not come across the post too short add 10 characters thing again)

Re: Forum upgrade

I still think that light grey grid lines would improve the look. This way the thread view looks like my shopping list.

Re: Forum upgrade

I'm always going to be a fan of openess ~shrug~ I think ammending text size (and differentiation between thread title, and thread preview text) for in forum view would help considerably, I'm currently surfing on 2X- on Firefox.

Just noticed Sigs have been ammended to 250 Characters, that's still so small (espeically if it includes formatting). Couldn't we just have a rule of thumb measurement ie: not bigger than 1/4 screen size?

Re: Forum upgrade

I'll miss sig pictures, but I'll live. Especially if it means we can have decent sized avatars.

The openness helps avatar clarity, I've noticed.

Here is an example . Gridlines would make the design more orderly.

Re: Forum upgrade

See I hate that.

~points at sig~ There seems to be a height limit too as the bottom is cut off. I can do with out pictures (depending on the increased Av size we'll get), but I'd still like a decent sig.

edit and why doesn't centering in sigs truly center?

Why do we have My Sciflicks and User CP which are identical? Will the My Sciflicks have more stuff when the new site comes?

Re: Forum upgrade

I've noticed a glitch, not an important one, I think, cosmetic, really.

Some members' custom Flight ranks have reverted back to default Flight Ranks, some have been able to keep their own and others have been changed to Registered User.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the sudden inability to change to a custom avatar, but I thought I'd point it out...

Re: Forum upgrade

Can you change it splend? edit: I can't find where you can change it. ~frowns~

Few other things (sorry Ramses, have been playing, feel free to imagine hitting me over the head with an anvil - just no voodoo dolls k?):
  • Polls can we please have the ability to edit them for when we (I) inevitably screw up?
  • PMs, when you read the message, there's a forward button at the bottom, but only a link to reply, could we also have a reply button at the top please? PMs can get long and the PM reading window appears to expand with the PM's size but the new stuff is usually at the top.
  • Mark Forum Read in Pilot's Mess takes you out to Scifi Nation - is it supposed to do that?
  • Subscribed Threads in My Sciflicks look odd. The thread is blocked up to the side with little room, middle column is HUGE white space (for thread starter etc) but just says "instant" for everyone, last post has the tick box under it for all the entries, then there's a header with a tick box but the rest of the colums is who's actually posted last for every entry.
  • When you view an individual post (by clicking it's number ie post #435) it centers the entire post, don't know if this is intentional or not
  • Can we no longer go ninja? As in be anonymous on who's online etc
  • Searching posts - maximum results given are 500. Can we not search all posts by a user like we used to?
Oooh fancy bullets, indentation and everything (and no tiny text).

Wow I don't think I actually said thank you, the upgrade was so worth the wait.

yeah ive just noticed this as well, as im now just a humble "registered user" rather than a wing commander. Again its only a cosmetic thing but its always nice to get promoted from time to time

I was perfectly happy with my Radha Mitchell avvie up until I realised I couldn't switch it, and now I'm hankering for change to go with the shiny new colourscheme...

Re: Forum upgrade

User titles & avatars: As the ranking system is different in this updated version, I'll have to find a way to make it work as close as previously. Flight Ranks (standard & custom) as well as custom larger avatars will follow soon; this is only a temporary situation.

Colors: I'll be calibrating some of the offending colors to fit the main site's beta look. Once everything is done I will look into offering an alternative, darker color set. Just hang-on.

IE7, Subscribed Threads, centered posts issues will be corrected by Monday. My SciFlicks will eventually lead somewhere else; I guess I should remove this extra link for the time being. Generally speaking, I will be tweaking things in the next few days.

Girl-trouble was remedied to: her heart is kindling again.
