~sigh~

I wish we had a site

I wish we had a site all shiny & new
I wish we had a site on which we could review

I wish we had a site with mods
I wish we had a site that would allow new bods!

I wish we had a site with content
I wish we had a site that could run itself when he went

I wish we had a site that made 'flickers proud

_______
Ramses is alive.

He actively posts and contributes to other sites.

It's ok that this is not the focus of his interest. I don't wish him to be here all the time, nor even to be an active participant. But I love Sciflicks and it's so easy to think how this could all work so well (new site, updated & relevant content: reviews, member contributions, new/features, forums that are cared for, NEW MEMBERS). Sad thing is, don't think there's anyone here who doesn't want to help.

I love you lot (yes, even the crunchy ones), our own crazy lil kooky family and this is home, we always come back no matter how bad it gets, but the "What if..." sucks.

I had this feeling for a long time, so long I almost gave up, but I always seem to come back. I don't know why... It is almost ten years since i first found this site.

Even when there was no message board. It was in 1999.

Cripes Ivan! You are the daddy of the threads are you not?

Yeah, I yo-yo too. But I darn well love this place. And I agree we need new blood and new film threads and lots of updatedness. And maybe a little nooky place for the 'old' sciflickers to run too, if we feel the change is too much.

Lmao (and how rare for me to actually use that?). Nooky. ~snicker~

Agree tenfold. And we do, because it's home - no matter how far we fly.

Re: ~sigh~

Yeah, Sciflicks is pretty much the "cyberhome" to a lot of us. It's kinda weird to think of it like this, but I can trace back a lot of important events in my life, and somehow connect Sciflicks to most of them in some way. Whether it be 9/11 (I was on Sciflicks at the moment), my father's death (people here helped me cope, more than they realize), my academic situation (people offered their insight into what should be done) or my current life (I met my current squeeze right on this site).

So it'd be nice to make this community (these few, these proud few, this band of brothers... I'll shut up now) open again for more members, and to expand on it with people willing to help, which is, like Seraph said, pretty much all of us.

This place should have a flare gun, or a Batsignal.

... wonder what Ramses is up to these days?

Yeah. It would be nice to see something new happening to the site. Although... The last three days I've been bug testing a site which cried for updating (read: its users cried for it). Now pretty much everyone on that site is nagging about the changes.

What other sites does Ramses contribute to?

Gosh it will be seven years come March 21st. That's borderline unreal to me. I found the absolute baby version of these boards in June/July-2000 and then joined in March 2001. I was 12 years old and in the 6th grade, now I'm about to be 19 and am currently a freshman at the University of Wisconsin. Time sure has zoomed past...

Re: ~sigh~

I am very tempted to send him a message on Facebook. If it weren't an invasion of privacy and slightly stalkerish, I would. I wonder if he's on Twitter :P

I do think that all we need is for the current mods to have the power to ban members. That way we can open the boards to new members, and bots/spampeople can be dealt with. I may not have much website experience, but I'm relatively sure it wouldn't take too long or too much effort to do that, right? Surely?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that he set the site up and keeps paying for us to be on the net and not banished to cyberlimbo, but we REALLY NEED an admin/group of admins who are here and on hand. This site and community have both been cheated out of their growth, through no ill-intentions or malice, but cheated all the same. It's a shame
