Exclamation Re: Suggestion

I have only seen this movie once, and it was when i watched it with my brother when i was 6. Please, anyone who reads this, do not let a 6 year old see this movie, i'm now 14 and still have nightmares about it.

Thumbs up Great Film, but not for young children

I agree a six year old should not watch this film. Actually, there are few scifi films suitable for a six year old. However, this is a great film. I saw the film in the movie theatre when I was about 13. I liked it so much I read the book and I was not an avid book reader at that age. I since have seen the movie several times on tv. I have also read the book again a few months ago. The book is very good, but the film is even better. I my opinion, and I know I am in the minority on this, it is the best science fiction film ever made.

Re: Suggestion

Cabalcomb so your saying that this isn't suitable for kids younger then me? Because my 4 year old brother saw it with me and was fascinated on how the Andromeda glowed and changed colors he did not seem to be affected by whatever parts may be "scary".

Re: Suggestion

maybe a four year old is not old enough to be scared... a six-year-old on the other hand would understand the action enough for it to give him/her nightmares for years...

Re: Suggestion

Generally, I would not recommend it for anyone under the age of 12 or 13. The scenes of all the dead people in the town and the scene of the monkey dying could be upsetting for very young children. So, I would not recommend it for very young children.

Re: Suggestion

Well Cabalcomb (not to be cocky) I am 12 and I was not the least bit scared. I was fascinated while I watched this movie. Oh and my little brother is scared of Predator for some reason. Can't figure out why. My whole family loves Predator, but not little Jack.

Angry Re: Suggestion

Ok, i'm going to reply to what i already said. If a 6 year old watches this, without understanding it, and beliving, at the time, its called the Andromeda Strange, its a frightening movie at midnight, with the scene's of dead bodies. Now that i'm 14 its not scary but a good movie

Re: Suggestion

I think it depends on the kid. I know if I showed it to my brother when he was 5 or 6 or even 4, he would have loved it. Someone else might not. It depends on the type of person and the family they are brought up in.

Re: Suggestion

Also depends on what version they are seeing. Some versions of this movie have had the axe taken to them. They deleted the wrist opening scene and several of the suicides in the town and depictions of the dead people as well as not showing most of the monkey death sequence.

The waterd down version is not as scary unless you can grasp still the implications of Andromeda and what it could do.

Ramses, how about a Java applet in this website so we can have a chat room. Wouldn't be hard to regulate (just like the forum) and it'd be easier...
