Minority Report: COMEDY

Is it me or is this movie also a comedy? I found myself laughing in a few places...

"I want to kill my boss."

Anderton's eyeballs roll off and he chases after them.

"Hello, Mr. Yakatomi..."

Anderton looks for food and drink with the bandage over his eyes - and picks the wrong stuff.

Damn you forgot the sweds they were the funniest. Actually I found it to be actually really funny after watching this movie... in some parts. But I think the funny scenes were tooooo funny to be in this kind of movie but they worked okay as nice "adds".

Yup, it was funny. In a way that was good, because all those blue and gloomy surroundings needed some enlightement. I never thought that Spielberg could make a dark comedy.

The virtual reality place really got me laughing. One guy mingling with the sophisticated types. Another well, getting it on. And the guy who wanted a simulation, I want to kill my boss.

That was funny.

Also I liked the fridge scene with the moldy food!

Indeed, Tack. The use of humour is well placed in this film, and doesn't go overboard neither. It still manages to keep the seriousness of Anderton's situation and the thrill of it, whilst throwing in a little light relief aswell.

Hmmm. It could have been even funnier. Then it would have lost itse film noirish charm but it could have been a great comedy. Now it seems a bit like they might had a problem there: to add more humour or not. They have decieded not to add more enlightment there - like in The Ladykillers, there it worked wonderfully.

Steven Spielberg films are always full of comic lines and scenes, even his most serious films like his masterwork Schnidler's List had comedy pieces in it (like the very funny scene where Oscar Schindler is interviewing secretaries). He's a master of knowing when to interject the right kind of comedy even in midst of a serious or dark film.

That's absolutely true and he's getting better all of the time. But I think that he has - in pretty same way that George Lucas has lost his touch by money and his need to get more of it - Spielberg's studies and his need to be more credible with his works have made him to be more careful. It wouldn't have made this movie any worse if if would have been funnier.

Re: Minority Report: COMEDY

Spielberg is overrated a bit.
Cameron's better then him.

But Sith is exactly right, Spielberg does know exactly when to add the comedic lines in any movie. And this move was no exception.

But if it were funnier, I don't think I would have put the word "masterpiece" next to it...

absolutely spot on. Although Spielberg overdid the ending with MR with all his trademark sugar & spice, all things nice, he is really a master at injecting comedy into most if not all of his films. I particularly loved Jaws and Brody's "We're gonna need a bigger boat!" remark to Quint: both funny yet totally deadpan, even in the most critical of situations.

And so to with MR: great comic timing that just lets the audience off the hook for a few seconds before hitting them with another shocking blow

Funny it was but I looked at the replies and none of them notes the funniest part------------as in Terminators I'll be back heavy accent-------it was where T Cruise's eye get scanned by the bugs and he is saved in the nick of time when the scan shows up on the cops screen; the guy ready to ram the door gets told that --he's not our guy and he turns to the the talker and says----I just love this----"Let's eat!" Funniest shot in the whole movie!!
