Well Pissed Off

I got Predator 1 & 2 in a double set in my local store for under 6 and since Ive been having a Predator/ Aliens week Id already watched the forst movie on VHS (yes they still exist) but when I put the disc in 1: it wasnt in DTS as the box boasts it is 2 theres loads of scenes cut from the movie. The scene where Dutch pins a guy to a pole with his knife and says "Stick around" then the scene where Dillon loses his arm and we see it hit the ground while still firing the weapon you just fet a quick glimpse as it hits thats it.

I mean WTF is the point? ppl have already seen this movie and as I mentioned ive got it in all its gory originality on tape. The movies are an 18 and are advertised on the box,so why? why cut those scenes? the only thing I can think of is because of the popularity of AVP theyve sneaked the cuts in incase the teenies get their hands on it to watch the originals.

So if your from England and are browsing through Tesco's and spot the offer on them DONT! you'll be just as disappointed as me.

Ah well just have to get them from the States I suppose....

Re: Well Pissed Off

Most of the movies I buy are from the states as I got pissed off watching the film in the cinema and when i got it on vhs etc it was cut to hell. Ive got pred 1 & 2 on vhs I just got them on dvd because 1 of the price and 2 its was advertised as being remastered with dts sound etc. which was a load of crap.

No way! They cut that?! That's a scene that belongs in the pantheon of "Classic SF Violence"!

I was expecting more too, not just the prologue story from 100 years ago. And this comment actually belongs in the AvP forum.

Re: Well Pissed Off

i generally buy my dvds either from the States or Europe because the BBFC are all too quick to hack and slice DVD versions regardless of whether they retain the 18 certificate or not.

I also rent dvds-on-line from Blockbuster, and they are the worst offenders for self-censoring 15 and 18 rated movies, and that's after the BBFC have done their bit. No wonder people turn to imports or torrent sites.
