Huh? This movie has Dan O'Bannon in it? 'Alien' Dan O'Bannon?

Yes, Alien Dan O'Bannon. He wanted Alien to be a big budget version of Dark Star, apparently ...

Re: Original Movie Poster

Erm didn't think he was in it was he? He created it along with another film student (who just so happened to grow up to be John Carpenter), was supposed to be a student film, got a little too big and became a crap low budget film.

Wasn't it comedyesque that failed abismally?

Re: Original Movie Poster

It was, it did and he was - he played one of the crewmembers, the one who gets attacked by the 'Alien'.

It was pretty amusing, though, apart from the effects. And the ending. Oh, the ending.

The poster doesn't really make it look like a comedy...

Re: Original Movie Poster

No, it's quite a bleak poster. Maybe it's meant to reflect the budget rather than the tone of the film?

Or they really, really, really wanted to mislead people who have no idea how bad the film is.

well I'll go against popular consensus on here and support the film: I thought it was a hoot from start to finish. 5 year project costing $58,000 and its brilliant. So there

Hey, I quite liked it, I thought it was pretty amusing. It's just the ending I thought was terrible

Re: Original Movie Poster

yeah the ending was a bit of a cheap copout. Guess they either ran out of ideas, time, money, interest. Or probably all four!

you must be joking.

the whole movie wraps around those last 15 minutes when doolittle is
given the order to 'teach the bomb phenomenology' and it's their dialog
that gave the movie the status of 'cult'

what did you think the movie was about? astronaut going after pet alien
monster ?
