Re: Profile: Home page links?

They now read "Go!" instead of just a normal address. They still work.

Re: Profile: Home page links?

The anti-spam thing is a temporary fix until the upgrade, where rel="nofollow" will be added only to pilots with less than 25-50 flights. It basically tells search engine spiders to disregard this link. The "Go!" part is so that search engines don't read the "http://..." part as a link (again, only temporary).

Droves of fake profiles have been registered at SciFlicks for the sole purpose of getting links (linkspaming) to viagra, adult, illegal software and other dubious sites to improve their search-engine result positioning. Such links risk penalizing SciFlicks in said search engines. I keep deleting these profiles as soon as possible, and even though links aren't visible to search engine spiders, these black hat SEO "so-called experts" keep on going anyway (and like for 222, one of them isn't even a robot). The text is aimed at deterring these human spammers, as they gain absolutely nothing now from doing their dirty work.

SEO: Search Engine Optimization, getting better position in search engine results pages. What was previously a delicate art is now claimed by many who do it poorly and as with spam emails, many clueless companies wishing better traffic don't know any better, bite the bait and pay these black hat clowns. These SEO clowns then in turn come to public places like the SQUAD! or Wikipedia and dump their trash on the lawn.
