Thumbs up NEW Predator Sequel!

After rediscovering my password, I figure what better way to make the first post on the actual movie forums in almost four years than to make it in the good ol' Predator forum? All of these old posts preserved for posterity need to be pushed down the list!

Sooooo Hawkins has come back to life and is directing the fourth installment of Predator! Obviously, this is great news because as Iwata first reported on Facebook, it was supposed to be a reboot/remake of Predator. Which is, of course, a terrible idea.

But a sequel with Black at the helm and creatively approaching the series with more fresh ideas will be promising. My biggest gripe with Predators is that it was a slightly better formula movie than Predator 2. Both were above average movies. But neither had the taught suspense of the first. I think Black is best served by not following the formula of a Predator comes, stalks hapless victims down one-by-one until he is killed by the alpha human.

I think ideas could be exploring Predator society more in the context of a clash with humans. The Predator winning at the end and killing the protagonist human. Have an entire movie of humans hunting the Predator and not the other way around. This is my favorite idea. The most promising segment of Predator 2/Predators was the warehouse scene in which Keyes and his boys were hunting the Predator. A movie exploring a Predator hunt would in some ways turn the formula on its head.
