Westworld - plotholes

(We don't have a forum for this? Surprising.)

I watched this again last night and I've only just noticed all the plotholes. We all know how they kept the robots under control (or at least they thought they did), but what about the guests? In the bar room brawl, real people were actually getting hurt. They provided an explanation for the guns so no one cold get shot, but what about the swords in Roman World or Medieval World? How do they stop the guests from beheading each other or something?

Limit, monitor and regulate - logically the bots would have safety protocols embedded that would extend to preventing humans from harming each other, plus everyone would probably have to sign waivers.

I mean what is the world coming to when a couple of people can't mess around with an axe and mace? Wasn't that long ago that you could drive home pissed and the police would give you directions.

Medieval re-enactment groups do it all the time, with blunt AND sharp axes, swords etc. I think it's a question of common sense, not to go that extra mile. If a guest kills a guest it would be murder or, at the very least, manslaughter. After all, you're there to take it out on the robots, not the other guests

I watched this yesterday. I still enjoy retro sci-fi about as much if not more than the new stuff. This is classic 70's SciFi - full of plot holes and inconsistencies but back then no one really noticed or cared. Like how does one leave infared footprints through cowboy boots or why didn't the infared body images of the people show up in Yul Brenner's view? And were the robots kililng each other or were all those Roman bodies guests?

I wouldn't mind seeing an update of this film (although one could argue that Michael Crichton's Jurrasic Park was an update of Westworld). I certainly feel that Brenner's persistent killing android inpsired James Cameron's Terminator - the scenes were the robots are on fire are very similar.

BTW - Does anyone here remember the shortlived SciFi TV Show Quark from the late 70's? I think you can watch every episode on YouTube now. The main guy in WW played Quark - hadn't thought about that show in years.
