Queensryche isn't in it! If Iron Maiden counts as Hair Band, then QR does, too (especially the first three albums)!

VOTE QUEENSRYCHE

Well, Bon Jovi didn't make the list, but I'd vote for them. If only because "Wanted: Dead or Alive" was one of my favorite songs of the time. I'm just sick of them now though.

Damn you, HWS!!! Damn you!!! All my favourites are there!!!

Now, do I vote for Iron Maiden, as they are my favourite band at the moment? Or Metallica? Or Megadeth, a great band? AC/DC and Scorpions are excellent too, of course, and Ozzy - well, goes without saying.

I'm going to be boring and stick to an opinion I've had for about 6 months or so now ... Up the Irons!

Re: Best 80's Heavy Metal Hair Band

Bands I left off and why:

Van Halen - more classic rock, came out of the 70's Americana Rock period (with Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, etc)

Queenscryche - one of my favorite bands, but I feel like they were transitional, one of the few heavy metal bands to ascend to the levels of alternative rock. They paved the way for Pearl Jam and Nirvana.

Bon Jovi - too much pop, too little rock

Slayer, Celtic Frost, Black Sabbath, etc. - more of the death metal genre, not close enough to mainstream heavy metal to make the cut.

Slaughter, Dangerous Toys, Danger Danger, Kix, Winger, Tora Tora Tora, Faster Pussycat, Kingdom Come, White Lion, etc. - bands that made the very end of the heavy metal hair era, one hit wonders then, wonder where they are now? Back painting houses for a living.

Ironman, Crazy Train, Paranoid, Mr. Crawley, Sweet Leaf

That there is enough to get Ozzy and Black Sabbath this title.

BS made a lot more songs that that, mostly death-metal. And Ozzy is on the poll.

Come again?? Black Sabbath is DEATH METAL? Sorry, but BS may have paved the way for DM, but they never were...

I would consider BS 70s Hardrock, maybe Heavy Metal, but definately not Death Metal.

Re: Best 80's Heavy Metal Hair Band

Now, now, guys, calm down I'll fix this

Black Sabbath's hair wasn't big enough It can be considered both Hard Rock and the earliest form of ultra-lite Death Metal ... I say Ultra-lite, because I in my naivite consider Cradle of Filth and it's ilk to be death metal, and Black Sabbath is not like them at all, but since their music is "none more black" it can be considered the very beginning of Death Metal.

I.E. not applicable for this list

As I said, "paved the way for Death Metal".

If you want to see some 80s style hair crimes, then check out early albums of German Metal band "Running Wild", especially on the cover of Blazon Stone. Wow, those guys are all leather and stuff and they have really really evil haircuts.
