I've always liked Batman, but I've come to appreciate the weirdness of Batman Returns more and more as the years go by.

Batman & Batman Returns are awesome. Batman Forever is just plain fun, and Batman & Robin, well... the less said about it the better.

I did not mention any films after Batman Returns because they do not exist.

I like Dark Knight. I am however willing to admit that Batman Begins was made. It was after all the first Batman film made after the strangely long post- Batman Returns hiatus.

The only 2 good movies of that time for Bat flicks were Burton's but Schumacher's were crap.

The Schumacher Batman's are, I think, best forgotten, as if they never were.

As for Tim Burton - I find his second effort, Batman Returns to be the better of the two. I thought his first film should have been titled Joker and His Nemsis the Batman. After all, it was a Joker origin story. Not that Jack Nicholas wasn't a damn fine joker but I'll take Chris Nolan's gritty, edgy, realism any day of the week.

Having never been a reader or fan of DC Comics until the graphic novels of the 1990's, I was never a fan of the classic Batman anyway.

I thought Batman Begins was a solid, solid movie, hindered by messy, hard to watch fight sequences and a very muddled up ending.

The Dark Knight still gets my vote as best comic/superhero movie ever made. In fact, I think the Nolan changed the genre for good.

Re: The Burton Schumacher Batman Films

I loved both Hamil's and Ledger's depictions. It is IMHO futile to debate which was better. The versions of the character were too different.

Both Hamil and Leger were the Joker. Nicholson just played the Joker. It was a good performance, but it was nicholson in a Joker suit, not the Joker. Hamil and Ledger's performances exist on a whole other plane.
