Unhappy 28 Weeks Later (Days Sequel)

Robert Carlyle baby.

(Coulda sworn I made this thread already, but apparently not, hence follows what I can [sorta] remember from the thread that was)

Had utterly forgetten about this, but saw a teaser poster for it in Coventry other week.

But erm yeah, this could be a leason in how to kill a decent Brit Horror - aka bring in the American Commandos (I kid you not...ok so they're called American Special Forces but who wants to quibble?). ~insert appropriate rant from the thread-that-was here~

And yep, no Cilian Murphy, or arse-kicking Naomie Harris (no one ever looked better with a machete) ~whimper~ I will not be swayed by Robert Carlyle I will not.

Basic Plot
: 28 Weeks after the last movie, UK is deemed virus free (uh-huh). So in fly the American Comm- sorry Special Forces to repopulate the country with refugees - in strict containtment camps, obviously. Not-so -suprisingly the virus rears it's head (but its better/badder than before, er ok then). Oh yeah, Carlyle? He's a refugee, with family - kiddie winks and all.

Directed by: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Boyle's just producing)
Written by: Enrique Lopez Lavigne
Release: 11th May 07

Said it before, and I'll say it again - DANGER! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

Not sure about this at all... But, I'm an eternal optimist. But like you say, it does sound like a very dodgy cash in rather than a justified extension on the original. Still, at least the UK is involved.

You know ... I seem to recall there being a Dog Soldiers 2 in the works with American Commando-Special Forces ... odd ...

And yes, it is very likely to suck. Carlisle or no Carlisle.

I might still watch it anyway, though

(I have a feeling I won't be able to stop myself and will find the cheapest cinema possible to go see - one can always hope it will have something)

That's if it doesn't end up as a straight-to-DVD release

I like the one at the local Showcase.

It's the Bio hazard sign in blood red and dripping.

Saw this couple weeks ago. Thought it was rather good. Undoubtedly no as good as the first, but very well made. Love the music in this as well

Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by the good reviews this has gotten. The premise makes it sound awful, but I've heard a few people saying much the same as yourself. Cool.

My sister watched it and said it was frighteningly awesome. Or awesomely frightening. I forget.

Either way, I'll probably watch oit when the DVD swings around. Like Jill, I'm pleased that previous 'oh noes' fears seem to be unfounded

No it's not, it's contrived beyond belief. It's not really bad, its just...so american - wouldn't mind if there was more to it, but there really isn't, it's just jump and scare with stupid amounts of blood and contrived - did I mention contrived?

Enjoyable - if you forget the first ones existance and expect nada.

Re: 28 Weeks Later (Days Sequel)

I do reckon the first one was a bit overrated, and now I've got two wildly different opinions of this one. And I would go and see it for myself, but I'm stuck on Walton Mountain for the next week...

You have pc & net? Go fish.

Really enjoyed the first - most probably because I ignored the hype, what with me being anti-zombie and all.

(And seriously, if you don't think it's contrived, your missing a few brain cells - but yes it's enjoyable in a middle of the road american horror kind of way)
