Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

we're almost is agreement, because I hated John in the first season, though I think i mostly hated his fake ugly hairdo. thank god they shaved his head in season 2, or I'd have walked away. furthermore, I find John a bit unbelievable, to be honest. I know a lot of 15-17 year old guys, and none of them have it together in quite the same fashion he does.

i hate how they keep breaking his character: one moment he has it together with his head on straight; the next he's a whiny little kid. that is actually NOT the pathology of gun-toting, mental boys with no dad in the home. in real life, he wouldnt be having might be having moments thinking he wished he was normal, but he wouldnt be the idiot that keeps almost getting them killed that they keep making him out to be.

he literally irritates me, and so did riley, up to now. i hardly believe that he would be willing after living his life out of a suitcase, and actually believing that bad things are to come, be willing to throw away his and his mother's life and the future of world to pout at and throw a tantrum on his mommy.

Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

Ok I'm going to do something crazy and attempt to go to bat a little for this show.

Firstly I'll say a lot of the inherent problems are due to the fact that a very popular franchise (one very dear to my heart) has been made into a television show. As such there are various problems that come with that, how to stretch the story over an entire year, the obvious lack of talent in guest stars etc. So one could argue that they should never have made the tv show in the first place. There I would agree, they should've left it alone after T2, nothing could suck the sweat off a dead man's balls the way that film does.

All that aside, some of the writing, or at least the ideas in the show, the on-going war with skynet, the paranoia of who to trust, the 'family' could make the show a very interesting one. I feel it does become let down by the writing in places. It feels clunky. As for the actors, well Thomas Dekker isn't too bad, and Summer Glau is definitely the best thing in it. Lena Headley I think has had a bit of hard ride. It's an incredibly difficult character to break into after Linda Hamilton made it so much her own in both the first two films. (Oscar worthy in the 2nd in my opinion)

So Ms. Headley has had to do the thing that all actors taking on a role created by someone else and that is make it her own. I think she's shown some good and believable vulnerability, strength at times too. One has to remember we are seeing the series move over a long period of time, periods of rest and action. In both 1 and 2, it was over the space of about a day or two, in that short amount of time it's easy to have the emotion amped up at all times, in fact it's necessary for an action film. Now don't get me wrong, she's not as good as Linda Hamilton, no question, but I think the studio could've done a lot worse.

I can only speak personally and well, I'm a sucker for anything Terminator related so I'll watch it, and especially considering it has Summer Glau in it. I am most definitely biased when it comes to her (why won't she have my children?).

Suffice to say, when we're talking of the ambitious attempt to make a Terminator related t.v. show, no-one is ever going to be satisified. Me included. Unless James Cameron writes and directs the whole thing and has a huge budget, which of course will never happen.

So.... does it deserve to be on our screens? I'd vote yes, it has action very well choreograohed and executed. The acting is decent, better from some than others considering the lame writing in places, some episodes certainly stand out more than others. Most importantly, it completely negates the story of T3, and that can only be a good thing.

And it's official - after a measly two seasons, FOX has canceled The Sarah Connor Chronicles. With Terminator Salvation due out next week and with a potential resurgance in franchise popularity you have to wonder why they wouldn't give this show a little more time. But hey, we are talking about FOX after all - the network that will keep worthless shows and allow decent shows to survive well past their prime but has no problem lowering the boom on potentially good TV.

I can't say I'm an avid watcher, but I have seen a good third of season two and the show was starting to work really well and get really good...no wonder they canned it!

Why am I not surprised..... well... depending on what happens with dollhouse, it may well pave the way for Serenity II. I'd pay to see that.

Shockingly, I've yet to see all of Season 2, having missed it on television. The box set is shockingly expensive so I'm waiting for it to come down in price. I'll give you my final opinions on the series when I've finished it.
