Re: Errors in "2001: A Space Odyssey"

*EDITED* if they did that, then HAL wouldn't be able to read their lips, wouldn't be able to lock out bowman, and HAL would never get disconnected, leaving out a major chunk of the movie.

space pods

The lettering of the space pods makes no sense at all! When Dave goes out to fix the antenna, the middle pod is B-
pod. When he and Frank go down to have their private conversation, the middle pod is C-pod. When Dave goes out to rescue Frank, the starboard pod is G-pod! Wouldn't it make more sense to letter the pods A, B, and C, from port to starboard?

mistakes in 2001

heres one that few people have ever noticed and i only noticed this when i saw this on a cinerama screen(wow!)have a look at the spelling of heywood floyds on his name tag when he is talking to his fellow scientists in the closed meeting it is clearly spelt with"e" in heywood.but when Dave Bowman finally shuts Hal down and the pre recorded tape plays of Heywood Floyd explaining the true purpose of the mission his surname is clearly spelt with an"a"!

Re: Errors in "2001: A Space Odyssey"

Near the beginning of the movie, when the actual space section starts, Heywood's (or Haywood's, whatever) ship approaches the space station. Now, the station is rotating clockwise, but a few minutes later, on more of a direct shot, the station spins counter-clockwise. I seriously doubt the station is designed to reverse direction

Oh, and does anyone know anything about the phone number Heywood/Haywood dials to reach his home? It's 1-534-581-5445.

Maybe it was the phone number for the studio or something?
