It was formulaic. This movie got a bad rep because such a big deal was made about how much it cost to make it. The end result, the press concluded, was not worth the money spent so they bashed it left and right, many before ever having seen the film. In the end, it earned well over the 100 million it took to make the film.
It had one of the best scores I have heard in a sci-fi film and some pretty good acting from supporting characters. All in all, you are right, it's not that bad of a film. |
