Indeed. Here, we have a Blue or Red feature. So why not Black or White? We must have Black. We need Black. Pretty please with sugar on top, and twelves boxes of Ben & Jerry ice cream I was saving for Seraph's birthday next year.

You're offering to give that away? Wise move, actually - it'll have gone off by next year, probably

Maybe there could be a small range of colour schemes?

We need red. I propose a democratic version, where red is the only choice. It is a little known fact that most, if not all, sciflicks users prefer red sciflicks. I've proven this in several threads. So really, it would just be a waste of server space to have any other colour option.

Re: Forum upgrade

Or we could go with a less fascist, less "you'll like what I say you like!" kind of approach?

Re: Forum upgrade

The basic upgrade is done, but there are still a few missing bits here and there. Hang-on for a few days, I'll try patching these up ASAP. SQUAD! header, avatar size and additional smilies coming up in a few days as well. Do tell me is there is anything wrong I might have overlooked.

Non-Internet Explorer pilots get to view the forums sprinkled with beautiful orange bars instead of the blue glow. Simply field-testing colors, do tell me what you think.

It took 48h instead of 24h: typical software development schedule, where you too often end up doubling the time you think it will take. Plus I had to repair a girl's heart that I hurt unknowingly. Bad timing...

Cheers Ramses! Seraph was right, all this shiny newness is lovely. Pristine whites and all, very calming. And God, I love quick-reply.

Hope girl-trouble weren't too severe.

Re: Forum upgrade

We did start having withdrawal shakes, but so very very very very glad it's here. Kinda a bit lost right now and don't know quite where to look first. Shiny white, no more depressing dark, lovely. It's different in IE? Will have a look see.

Oh the posty box is overhanging the thread table in FF - res 1024 x 768 (just noticed).

Ditto on the girl trouble.

Oh that's so cool - it's picks up and remembers HTML formatting? Wicked.

Is there anyway we could keep the old menu bar inside all forums/threads (used to be one at the bottom, which let u select a diff forum to visit/whos online etc - now u have to go to the main page to see who's online - unless I missed something) and inside forums show the users browsing that forum? I take that back the quick links thingy has Whos Online cool, so just ignore the menu bar thingy, but I'd still love to see other users browsing the forum when I enter it.

Quick reply is fab, I barely every bother with it anywhere else, but I've already used it loads here already.

Custom Avs - ability to change them seems to have disappeared

Quick reply box is fun! Hooray for newness! It's ... a bit daunting, but I'll get used to it. Hooray for changes on the way! (especially to avatar sizes and such, as I've suddenly lost the ability to change custom avatars ).

Hope girl troubles are all sorted out now

Im not sure If I like it either...... White is so.....weird. And its HUGE. The words are HUGE and take up the whole page. Its like instead of rocking content (actual posts) out front and center it rocks .....bright, neon-y, orange-y...stuff that kind of all bleeds together and makes me want to go get a small child to play on it.

I do miss the soothy darkness of the ol' blue and gold, but then, I just figure that's because my nerdy eyes have adjusted to the shadows. Change is a constant, right? I'll adjust.

Re: Forum upgrade

This really looks weird, and I can't seem to find the option to upload my new custom avatar anywhere. Ramses, help please?

Also I am familiar with this version of vBulletin since they are using it on another forum I am visiting but to read a bright text on dark surface is so much easier then dark text on white. Simply it is too white

I urge you Ramses to reconsider.

Even the color sheme in the administrative vbulletin part is much better. Maybe you could use something like that in the color section.

Also Where are our signature pictures???

PS: We NEED GRID LINES!!!!!!

Re: Forum upgrade

I have just found something truly sucky. TRULY sucky.

I was typing a quick reply, and it wouldn't accpet it, because it was "too short" and wanted me to add 10 characters - however it also decided to WIPE the message.

Following was the message:
"You can change the text size from your browser. I like the non gridlines but I'd like more than a 100 charcters for a sig please"

How is that too short? edit: This has only happened this once and wasn't repeated with far shorter posts.

Another problem. You start typing a quick reply then you notice the cool, quote message in reply, cept I know it was the wrong message so I click the reply to the message I wanna quote and it sodding wipes the quick reply, you've already typed

Re: Forum upgrade

I don't really like the colours... or the layout for that matter. New gadgets are cool though, and it's still easy to get around.

Couple of problems though...

When I click the link in my email to go to the new reply, it takes me to a random old post. Like, with the C H A T thread, it took me to a post on page 304 when we're up to something like 399 (and I know I'd posted after page 304, it wasn't a new post).

Also, my gif picture in my sig ended up as a link instead of an image, even with the [img] tags. Have we changed away from BBC in our signatures?

EDIT: I run on Safari with a Mac.

People actually liked that layout? I loathed it
