New Heavy Metal animated movie coming out 2010 or 2011.

That's right, it's a brand new reboot/remake of the 1981 cult animated Sci-fi/horror/fantasy anthology classic! Four directors known as David Fincher, Gore Verbinski, Zak Sydner and Guillermo Del Toro are gonna do this new project.

I hear it will be a series of stories like the original but with different animation to them such as stop-motion, CGI, traditional 2D from America and Canada, Japanese animation, Clay Animation, and Stop Motion.

Somehow I think Del Toro will be a little busy to be working on this supposed reboot.

Well he is directing one of the segments for the film. I think this should have potential to be cool, afterall the original 1981 animated movie is great as it's a nice cult cartoon for adults anthology with an awesome soundtrack which i do own on CD with both the Elmer Bernstein score and the rock songs, stoner aliens, hot realistic animated babes like Taarna the white haired mute warrior chick, gore, and of course the voices of John Candy, Harold Ramis, Eugene Levy and John Vernon.

The original film was a big influence on "The Fifth Element" and you can see why, but now this could be a new experiment in a variety of different animation as it could bring adult animation back to the mainstream just like "South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut" and "Beowulf" did.

Del Toro will be busy working on The Hobbit and the unnamed bridge prequel movie leading toLord of the Rings. And I'd like to see where exactly you are getting this info stating they are redoing Heavy Metal. I personally think this would be a bad idea and until I read the news in an official setting, I won't be concerned with them destroying the novelty of the original film.

And you liked the original movie? that movie is a classic! great soundtrack, hot toon babes, gory violence, John Candy with Harold Ramis, what more can you want?

I loved the first one. The one they did back in 2000 wasn't really all that great. The animation bothered me somehow. it looked like a saturday morning cartoon. I dunno...maybe i'm weird....well, i am, but still. If, IF this gets made, i'll probably see it...and hate it.

Hey Demos, i agree on HM 2000 which blew and i am a fan of the original myself. That's why Fincher with friends are gonna restart the series much like "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale" did. do you think the original HM influenced "The Fifth Element"? and anyone thinks Taarna is quite sexy for a realistic toon chick? i mean DAMN man, they knew how to create her even with a model.

I bet some of you think "Batman Begins" and "THe Dark Knight" are remakes cause of Joker or Batman's origin again, NO! they are part of a reboot series that seperates themselves from Burton's and Schumacher's movies.
