How friggin true is that! It's like they put out two of the best grunge albums on the planet: "Ten" and "Vs." and then decided to suck! A real shame. I never recovered from my shock and dissapointment after listening to Vitalogy.

BTW - thought about adding the Stone Temple Pilots to the list, but they were a tad after the whole grunge thing hit, more of a second generation grunge band.

It's hard for me to vote. I think Dirt by Alice in Chains, Superunknown by Soundgarden, and Ten by Pearl Jam constitute the triple crown of alternative rock, greatest alt. rock albums ever made! Throw in Core by STP and you have it!

Useless Fact- Apparenltly Gore Verbinski (POTC, The Ring) directed the Black Hole Sun video. He's got a very interesting CV, considering he also created those goddamned Budweiser frogs...

I think Superunknown has to be the greatest rock album of all time...period. Yes, this includes Zeppelin's 4, Floyd's Dark Side..., and anything else (except maybe Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers...or maybe Ritual De Lo Habitual by Janes Addiction...or even Dirt by Alice in Chains...).

Really? Cool, cos I was going to get that one next. I've only heard Louder Than Love and Badmotorfinger so far (I have a habit of listening to albums in order... ). What are the last three bands like on that poll?

Re: Best Early 90's Flannel Wearning Grunge Band

If you like Soundgarden, might I suggest you pick up Dirt by Alice in Chains. Absolutely amazing album. The crafstmanship of that CD still astounds me.

The Screaming Trees came and went, they were on the verge, then dropped out of site. I think they are all painting houses again.

Mother Love Bone you should know about if you are a Soundgarden fan. MLB was the band from which the two grunge giants - Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, sprang. MLB was a bit too much 80's heavy metal, but they were twinged with the grunge style. Their lead singer OD'd and they broke up. Some of the members formed Pearl Jam, the others formed Soundgarden. They got back together on the much underrated Temple of the Dog album for one last fling. Saw both bands at one of the loloapalooza's and was hoping they might share a stage and crank out some Dog or old MLB hits, but it didn't happen.
