Supposedly Bay is going to draw more from canon and make it less sucky than the last film. But this being Bay, I'm not holding my breath. You can see both the teaser and Superbowl trailers here:

Sorry, the first one was awful, can't say I bothered with the second, now a third? It's a shame because the trailer was so promising, until it became about Transformers.

Would you have rather had James Cameron than Bay for Transformers? would you compare Bay to Cameron? i've heard people compare them.

Re: Transformers: Dark of the Moon trailers

I've heard them compared in that they are difficult men to work with, standing on no ceremonies. I can't say regarding Bay but certainly in the case of Cameron the general consensus is that he is very difficult, but only because he knows everyone else's jobs better than they do on the whole.

Don't get me wrong, I think Mr. Cameron has gone way off the boil in recent years and I maintain it's because he doesn't have anyone strong willed enough in his life to reign him in. Al his best films were with Gale Ann Hurd and as a Director Producer combo they were one of the best in the business. Unfortunately I think he's got too many yes men around him now.

As for Bay, when he makes a film that is anywhere near the equal of Terminator, Aliens, T2 or even The Abyss, then we'll see. Personally I think his direction is lowest common denominator every time, it's lascivious, brain-dead, leery, obvious tosh. Generally speaking it's everything that's wrong with Hollywood movies at the moment, he should've stayed directing Porn.

As for Transformers as a franchise itself, I never had any interest in seeing a real-life movie of those disguised robots. With technology being what it is now in Computer graphics, I would've loved to have seen it stay ostensibly within it's own genre and been a big-budget animated movie, whether by a company like Pixar or handing it over to the Japanese. At least it would've felt a little more true to the source material.

To be honest, if anyone wants to see another Michael Bay Transformers movie, they should just watch the original cartoon movie, spout a few quasi-racist stereotypical jokes, salute the stars and stripes with a tear in their eye and then jack off to a picture of Megan Fox. The end result is basically the same and you'll save yourself some cash.
