Hi - I'm a newbie to this board and I have just watched Equilibrium.

I thought the movie took a while to get going and they hammered in the George Orwell theme a bit too much for my liking but what that dude does with a couple of guns is ****in awesome! He makes Arnie look like a wimp. So I give it a double thumbs up.

From a very nervous "first timer"

And how was that bit towards the end where he slices off the face of the other dude?!
I knew something was going to happen but just wasn't expecting it, so it was a real surprise and the camera angle they took that shot from made it even more sickening.
Totally groovy!

Thanks for the welcome by the way

What I thought was so great about the fight w/Taye Diggs' character (the other "cleric"), was the anticipation that they gave us when they fought in practice. They were almost equally matched in practice---both having caught a weak spot on the other. In the real thing, though, they fought for seconds only---he sliced Diggs' face off with one swipe! What that means, I dont know---that Diggs' character was overconfident? that they wanted John to be able to fight w/Father more so than Diggs? Who knows?

It was ok as far as brit flicks go. I liked the fight when they realised he was a sense offender and he blew that squad away...
