Top 10 Sci-Fi Movies of All-Time

Okay, an old topic that has been hashed over and over. But I figure this is worth discussing because it is always subject to change.

What are your Top 10 Sci-Fi movies of all-time? For considerations of this thread, your 10 favorite sci-fi movies don't necessarily equal the 10 best (as indicated, Predator, is as you all know by far my favorite movie of any genre, but it is not the best Sci-Fi movie I have ever seen).

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey
2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
3. Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back
4. The Day the Earth Stood Still (original)
5. Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope
6. Blade Runner
7. The Matrix
8. Predator
9. Alien
10. Gattaca

Also Considered: The Thing, The Terminator, Aliens, The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park

01. 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick, 1968
02. The Empire Strikes Back, Irvin Kershner, 1980
03. Blade Runner, Ridley Scott, 1982
04. Stalker, Andrei Tarkovsky, 1979
05. Ghost in the Shell, Mamoru Oshii, 1995
06. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Michel Gondry, 2004
07. Akira, Katsuhiro Ôtomo, 1988
08. Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Don Siegel, 1956
09. A Clockwork Orange, Stanley Kubrick, 1971
10. RoboCop, Paul Verhoeven, 1987

Also Considered:
The Thing, John Carpenter, 1982
La Jetee, Chris Marker, 1962
Brazil, Terry Giliam, 1985

Hmmm the 80s were surprisingly a very good decade for SF even though everyone only remembers the cheese.

Re: Top 10 Sci-Fi Movies of All-Time

I love seeing Gattaca on your list, P. Last week I was staying with family, the family that lives a long way away, and I was absolutely miserable. I hate being out of my element. I was sleeping in a third floor media room, isolated from the rest of the house and I couldn't sleep, because of all the caffene I'd consumed for the long drive. I knew I'd never find anything on TV, but Comcast OnDemand usually has at least one good movie. Sure enough, scrolling past the G's, there's Gattaca. I hadn't seen it in at least a few years and it really hit the spot. It's not only one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies, it's just one of my favorite movies, period. Jude Law is beyond perfect for the role of Jerome. One of the only movies I've seen that always brings a little tear to my eye.

10 X-Files: Fight the Future
9 Clockwork
8 2001
7 Dr. Strangelove (loosely SciFi)
6 Sphere
5 Contact
4 Back to the Future
3 Empire Strikes Back
2 Gattaca
1 Jurassic Park

very little particular order. Those are the ones I love the most.
