Scratch That - Remake with Roland Emmerich

More remake news:

Quote:
Director Roland Emmerich is readying a remake of the 1966 sci-fi pic "Fantastic Voyage" for 20th Century Fox says Variety.

"Voyage" is about a scientist who is dying of a blood clot. His only chance for survival is for five scientist colleagues to be miniaturized in a ship, and injected into his bloodstream.

The original, directed by Richard Fleischer, starred Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence. "National Treasure" scribes Marianne and Cormac Wibberley are in talks to write the script of the remake

I'm waiting this remake with a fear it's poor. :/ The original version is so beautifully made, although it's a B-movie. Superb effects.

Why it is that Hollywood keeps remaking all these old movies or continuing old stories endlessly? Even Tron 2.0 is on its way!

I bet you think "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" were remakes of the Tim Burton Batman movies due to Joker and Batman's origin, NO they are not. They are part of a new franchise and a reboot!

Re: Scratch That - Remake with Roland Emmerich

As a matter of fact I didn't think of them at all. But thank you for reminding me of them. Yeah. When it becomes to films like Batman (or Superman), one must always remember they are based on something else than movies (comics in this case).

But the case Batman is a different thing than for example Fantastic Voyage, which saw the daylight at first as a movie. It's been told that its creators asked Isaac Asimov to write a book of it but he found the script too poor for that.

...When there's not much of great material, why to make a new movie of it? If they'll make big changes to the script, it's no more 'a raboot' but more like a totally different 'machine' with the same old name.

Well.......... it could be ok? Probably more likely it'll be like Poseidon, at least Kurt Russell dies in that
