Re: Abrams New Star Trek...

Took the wife to see the new film last night - she enjoyed it immensely which I suppose is the highest order of praise the filmmakers were looking for - that a non-Trek fan, even a non-Science Fiction fan would enjoy the film.

As for me, my review still stands, possibly more so. The plot holes annoyed me terribly on the second run through and I'm still bothered by Abram's vision of The Enterprise - many of its interiors looked some kind of factory or brewery - large stainless steel vats, lots of piping, cat walks, etc. Iím not really sure what they were going for but it looked nothing like a futuristic starship. Be it the sick bay, the bridge, or the oddly placed water room with all the big, transparent water pipes, the ship itself, always a vital player in any good Trek film, is a muddled mess.
