Richard Kelly's The Box.

Still haven't seen Southland Tales, and by all accounts it was disappointing in the extreme. And Domino was supposed to be sh*te. But anyway. I still loved Donnie Darko enough to care, and it's based on a Richard Matheson story...

Quote:
Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

Featuring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden, and based on a Twilight Zone episode.

The last few months have been an amazing time for us on the editing of
The Box.

We're starting to work with a very famous band who is honoring us with
being the first fillmmakers they've ever scored a film with.

Hopefully there will be an announcement soon about who it is!

Keep the faith,

RK

It's Arcade Fire, apparently. Supposedly, Kelly namedropped them all over the Southland Tales set if you look hard enough, but like I say, I haven't seen it. It's a weird thing for them to do, and I wouldn't be wholly surprised if it turned out to be untrue, but... anyway, the point is, they don't do stuff they don't like, so this could be good.

Re: Richard Kelly's The Box.

The script can be read at http://www.script-o-rama.com/table.shtml

I really want this to be a return to Donnie Darko form, but the script gets really lumpy towards the end. Hopefully that's a very early draft, or it'll translate better on screen, because I like a lot of the ideas in there... Hmm.

That would be an interesting new direction for Cameron Diaz...

Trailer's not as awful as I expected, but it's still not quite uh, good.

Aw hell, I was kinda interested in seeing this (especially with the teasing of the supernatural), till you reminded me about Southland Tales.

Darko makes me angry, but I get it, I just want to slap him and every other lil boy like him. Southland Tales however is just horrendously bad.

Re: Richard Kelly's The Box.

I never bothered seeing it in the cinema, although to be fair, it wasn't there long.

I will probably catch it on DVD though. Old times sake.

Re: Richard Kelly's The Box.

No word on a Region 2/Europe DVD release, only Blu Ray so far, weirdly.

I am interested in a Sciflickers opinion on it, both the movie and the uh, music.

I saw it and i give it 7/10 . There is nothing wrong with the directing , acting and the overall mood but the only bad thing is that it is extremely predictable.

I'm probably the only person who liked Southland Tales.....

I'd give the Box a 6/6.5 out of 10
