I find that neither of these posters give really any kind of hint of what to expect from the movie. Other than it set somewhere deep. Very subtle, drawing you in and making you want to know what The Abyss is.

Re: Original Movie Poster

What the hell is that first poster supposed to be? Two people kissing or one person about to bite the nose of the other? What does this have to do with the movie?

First contact?

I did think maybe the top one was Ed, but now it's probably the water head (well that's the best explanation I can come up with anyway).

Water is what I get from the 2nd - deep water.

Re: Original Movie Poster

The second one is very familiar, I think it's the cover of the DVD with maybe the colors change a little.

The first one....don't know. Have never seen that poster before. I assumed it was the two main characters, Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth MasterofSanAntonio, maybe when he was giving her CPR or something....curious.

Re: Original Movie Poster

I couldn't actually tell what the first one was. Looked like a random blue squiggle at first.

"There's Everything You've Ever Known Abut Adventure...And Then There's moviegoods.com".

EDIT: Just noticed...I think he's close to poking her eye out with his nose.

The Y in the second poster is like a really deep pit - an abyss, if you will. And at the bottom there's a lovely glowing thing. so yeah, I'd say it pretty much sums up the film

Having just watched it again, going to go with Sith on the Heads one, not least for the symetirical drowning.

Surprised that I actually found a movie poster for this, considering it was made for TV. Two years in the making? Yet it's always considered the poor...
