Question soylent red/green/yellow

What are these made of (in reality)?
Does anyone know? Are they made of sugar or cakes or what?
In the film, they seem to be made of plastic or somewhat, but Heston eats a bit of them, so they had to be eatable...

How to make some?
Please gimme a hint!

Re: soylent red/green/yellow

If you're looking to make something that resembles them - then you may as well just make cookies/biscuits with food-dye.

No idea what the ones in the film were actually made of, though.
