Plot sounds like a book I read...

Seriously. If you read what is out there about this one (where did this movie come from? Left field? ) it sounds an awful lot like a conspiracy theory/espinoge scifi book series out there... Ill reveal names when I find out more.

Harrison Ford set to star in Godspeed
Wednesday, May 26th, 2004

Godspeed: According to Variety, Harrison Ford is set to star in Godspeed, an outer space-set thriller that is being put together by James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment.

Cameron, who has not directed a regular feature since 1997's Titanic, will not be at the helm but will produce the film with Lightstorm's Rae Sanchini and Jon Landau. Cameron is currently prepping a full-length dramatic feature utilizing the 3-D technology he developed for the 2003 Imax feature Ghosts of the Abyss.

Scripted by Ryne Douglas Pearson, Godspeed takes place on an international space station, where a life-threatening situation develops that could kill all the inhabitants on the station.

The film will begin production in the fall, and the Lightstorm plan is to secure a director and studio quickly so Ford can jump right into Godspeed early next year.

Evidently the guy who is writing the story also provided the source material for the Mercury Rising movie w/Bruce Willis.

Not too shabby.

Re: Plot sounds like a book I read...

Has Ramses got confused, or does he know something I don't?

I searched for Godspeed on IMDB and it came up with Adrift:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0470055/
However it seems to be an entirely different film.

Maybe the Harrison Ford Godspeed hasn't got a green light?

(Does this mean we can have forums for non sf stuff now?)

Plot summery for 'Adrift' on IMDB
A weekend cruise on a luxurious party yacht goes horribly wrong for a group of old high-school friends. They forget to let the ladder down before they jump into the ocean for a swim. The boat proves impossible to climb. They are stuck in the water many miles from shore, with baby Sara left alone on board. Sara's mother Amy must contend with her aqua-phobia as well as the group's increasing desperation, as the friends begin to turn on each other. Soon the exhaustion of keeping afloat and the struggle to get back on board begin to take a terrible toll. The happy reunion turns into a fight for survival...

What a completely absurd/hilarious idea for a film

I didn't actually read it all the way through - I got 'boat' and 'lost people'.

The ladder bit is a classic though.

So it's Open Water with added stupidity, then? Fair enough

So ... what happened to Godspeed?

Don't know about Godspeed, but Adrift is out. And according to the trailer, it's got all the added-stupidity you could need.

My friend wanted to know why they couldn't just climb up the back of the boat using the obviously-not-turning-or-else-the-boat-would-be-speeding-away propeller as a foothold. And now we have to rent the film to find out. Dammit

Just checked imdb ... Adrift is apparently Open Water 2. Which explains why no one sued when the whole 'help we're stuck in the sea' thing was brought up

There's no mention of a spacestation-y film on Harrison Ford's imdb page, though. Looks like things have gone pear shaped there...

Open Water 2? Another semi related to possible truth type story?

Stupid. People.[/callous]

(Actually came up at a work do the other week, dinner convo, people actually wanted to see it, I thought I'd accidentally slipped into another 'verse)
