Talking Escape from ........ Prequal on it's way

John carpenter's anti-hero snake plissken is on his way back, but not to the cinema, oh no, and not in a straight to video movie,

as a video game, yep, a prequal to escape from ny, where we're going to find out, just what new las vegas is like, how snake lost his eye, and exactly what happend at the battle of cleveland,

by the end of the prequal game, we'll find out all that, and more,
the game will be with us in 2004 hopefully,

personally, I can't wait,

Glad there's no film planned ... yet

These days you know they'd pick that F@G bennifer as Snake.

They could do a mini-mini-series a la Battlestar Galactica as a made for TV movie, have Viggo (ROTK) play the role.

Some info

IGN July 31, 2003 - Snake Plissken, the lead character portrayed by Kurt Russell in John Carpenter's Escape from L.A. and Escape from New York, will be featured in his very own video game, Namco announced today. Developed by Namco Hometek (Dead to Rights, kill.switch), the first in the planned series of games, scheduled for release by Christmas 2005, will feature "a combination of fists, firearms, stealth and brains." Additionally, Kurt Russell will lend his voice talent to the game, helping to provide an authentic Snake Plissken experience.

"Snake Plissken is a pop-culture icon and Kurt Russell's portrayal of Snake set the standard by which many action heroes followed," said Andre Emerson, Senior Producer for Namco Hometek Inc. "The opportunity to now extend the Snake Plissken character through a video game franchise is a dream come true for us. We will be partnering directly with series creators John Carpenter, Debra Hill, and Kurt Russell to create a dangerous universe where players can live Snake's past, present and future adventures first hand."
"I am thrilled Snake Plissken Chronicles will soon be an exciting new action game from Namco," said producer Debra Hill. "This reinvention of Snake in a multi-media world that did not exist 20 years ago only reinforces our belief that the character is universal in his appeal and ageless in the marketplace."

Not much has been said about the game since...

Does anyone know the current status?

After searching every where online, I can only say that no, there's been no more news. Which I guess could be a good thing, becuase it means it hasn't been canceled.

it really sucks, the game has been cancelled. i can't see why it wouldn't make for a great selling game. im mean the scenerio sounds great, even for the casual action movie watcher
