And Thin Lizzy ... though not sure how good they could possibly be without Lynott

Re: The (New?) Official Music Festivals Thread

Sarah and I are actually seeing Lizzy in April, supporting Deep Purple. I too probably wouldn't have bought tickets to see a Lynott-less Lizzy, but as they're the support act for a band I spent £60 buying a front row seat on ebay to see, I'll happily watch them and see how they rate. I think John Sykes (Thin Lizzy guitarist from glory days) is handling vocals. Bass is being played by a guy named Marco Mendoza, who I saw play bass for Whitesnake a few years back. The man oozes sexuality, but whether he can match Lynott in that respect remains to be seen. Like I said, I'll watch them with an open mind. If they're good, great! If not, I didn't actually pay to see them (they were only added to the bill after I'd bought the tickets).

Re: The (New?) Official Music Festivals Thread

Well, due to budgetry constraints, my friends and I are neither going to Graspop nor to the Aerosmith London gig, which is a damn shame However, because we've been meaning to go since forever, we ARE going to The Rock and Blues Festival, a kind of low-buget anything-goes laid-back sort of event, apparently usually populated by bikers and people who just want to have a good time. With Scorpions and The Levellers headlining, it'll be worth the low ticket price - and camping is free, which is always a plus. So, unless we all forget/decide not to go AGAIN, that's our festival plan this year ... poverty sucks

Well this summer is going to be great in terms of concerts. Missed Apocalyptica and Behemoth concerts in Sofia because I was still in Italy (bloody ****in hell). But I managed to get a ticket for 10 euro (lucky me) for Iron Maiden concert. It was bloody ****ing amazing. Got a really cool Iron Maiden T-shirt also. All in all beyond words...They played awesome... I am probably going to Placebo (dont look at me like that, I dont listen to them really, they made me go ) and probably to Marylin Manson concert as well. It's great to be home again

Bloody hell, 10 euros for a Maiden Ticket?? How did you manage that? Unless 10 euros = 20-30 quid, which I was sure it didn't the last time I checked (though it would explain why Dublin bankrupted me )...

Haven't actually heard of Uli John Roth, is he a David Lee Roth tribute act?

Erm no

He's a guitarist and like Michael Schenker they both have a history with The Scorpions. I think all differences have been settled as they're appearing on the same stage, although I wouldn't bet on them joining the scorps onstage.

10 Euros for a Maiden ticket? Bloody hell! Where were you seated?

In front of the stage, right next to them The most expensive ticket was 25 euros. We are talking about Bulgaria guys Here everything is more cheap while there is no difference in quality. Pack of Malboro ciggaretes costs in Italy 4 euros here it costs 1 euro

You should visit me sometimes, you will also find some of the most beautiful girls in the world here :P

Re: The (New?) Official Music Festivals Thread

Bloody hell, the Leeds line up is amazing. Was just about whelmed by the RHCP when I saw them at Slane, but other than that... wooo.

Ireland's own Republic of Loose are playing on the Sunday. I have had somebody tell me they were good live, but having endured their presence in a pub once, I couldn't recommend them in good conscience, because they really do act like they're God's gift to everything.

I find it infinitely amusing that Ash and Charlotte Hatherley are playing the same festival. It'd be great if they all bumped into each other backstage.

"So. How've you been, Charlotte?"

"Critically acclaimed since you kicked me out of the damn band, thanks Tim. You?"

Oooooh meow! I saw Ash (avec Charlotte) at the Leeds festival a fewyears ago. Not a huge fan, but they did a good live set and Orpheus is a cracking song.
