New forums proposal

Greetings pilots,

Based on previous requests, the SQUAD! will have the luxury of a few more outlets:
  • Fan/Original Fiction: Where relevant threads from Off-World and the Mess will be relocated
  • First Contact: Previously a single welcome thread, soon to be a turned into a forum of its own!
  • Borderline Sci-Fi/Fantasy: Where some long-requested movies will find a place, and others such as Ghostbusters will be relocated.
  • Currently contemplating Sci-Fi Literature, Sci-Fi Games and Sci-Fi TV Shows, if there is enough interest.
Do voice your request if more such general categories are required.

All of those would be awesome.
I think there would be a ton of intereset in the Games/Literature/TV polls.

One suggestion: Maybe in a Comic/SuperHero Forum, a place for not only pure SciFi comics (like X-Men and Spiderman) but all those that aren't quite SciFi (like Batman and The Punisher). Sub-forums:

Superman
Batman
Hulk
Spiderman
X-Men
Daredevil
Electra
Ghost Rider
The Punisher
Fantastic Four
Transformers

Another suggestion might an Anime SciFi forum.

Oh WOW! So we could have things like the hotly contested Blade ... maybe even Lord of the Rings, unless that's stretching the 'borderline fantasy' tag a bit too far

<<is chuffed>>

I think SciFi Litereatuire would be an especially popular forum, as there's a lot of SF readers here. SF TV not so much, but as a completist, I'd find it hard to say no

Very chuffed on the borderline.

The main page isn't going to get too cluttered or mazy though is it?

Re: New forums proposal

Im fairly new here but have been a member of similar SF forums for over 10 years: but this one certainly is one of the best I visited so far.

Im still finding my feet around here but Im all for carefully monitored expansion: Im very big on Manga (Akira, and all that). I don't think it the genre would qualify per se for this forum but there are quite a lot of manga films that have a sf influence which Id love to check up on

Anyway, which ever way you want to go its sounds cool to me

That sounds awesome, although it would have to be carefully moderated, because a lot of anime is futuristic, but not scifi.

I'd love that though.

Re: New forums proposal

We could move Akira there. But what about the Metropolis anime (if it counts as anime, I'm hazy on the definition - I'm not much of a Japonophile, oddly enough)? Would we be able to discuss it in the proper movie's forum?

Re: New forums proposal

Well, SF TV could be a nice forum, but the currently popular Serenity forum might lose quite a few posts.

Ditto (I'm currently arguing with myself about tv) and on the flip side to Anime forum, you may wind up marginalising it.
