I feel lost without my usage of foul words. I mean, sure it's a sign of a limited vocabulary, but its MY vocabulary. And now i can't use some of my favorite words anymore. 'Tis censorship.

Well, it's kindof right. After all, any 10 year old can access this site.

And yes, I know that any average 10 year old knows and uses all the words already, but still, it's the principle of the thing.

Re: Swearing

Ah ... but you can still say bollocks. And of course, feck.

So we can pollute kids minds, but only with nonAmerican swearwords

Re: Swearing

But feck doesn't have the same effect as ****, when its really spelled out. To hell with the ten year olds. They've never done nothing for me anyway. If they don't want to hear or read foul language.....then they might as well tear their eyes from their sockets and pour hot lead into their ears.

~wonders why it matters whether someone else can see it or not~

Part of my vocab and there are far more creative options open of at least the british vernacular, regardless why do other people have to know exactly how you're effing and blinding for what you say to be validated?

(The quoting thing was cool, but eh can live without provided the sentiment is understood)

edit: The D!ck thing however is utterly ridiculous, particularly given this is a Science Fiction forum and you know there was the guy who wrote those books who no one's ever heard of

Re: Swearing

Okay, Ramses, if you must, keep the swear words censored - but pleaaase can we at least say "D!ck" and the mostly harmless "mor0n"? I mean, we really need the former, imagine how annoying it would be when the time comes to type up our Scanner Darkly reviews...

Re: Swearing

If I may suggest Nex, just do as I do. Censor one letter in the word and you can still know what you're saying.

Example: F*ck, Sh!t, C*cksucker, Motherf*cker, B!tch

Re: Swearing

Not really, though, Kier. We can't really go and rent Noobs From Outer space, can we? And what if we want to call an established member a m0r0n (well, you never know )? And the song just doesn't scan when you shout 'Gordon is a noob!"

No, it just won't wash, Kier
