They should do a live-action Last Unicorn remake.
I think Guillermo Del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth", "Blade 2", "Hellboy 1 & 2", "Cronos", "Devil's Backbone", "Mimic" and producer of "The Orphanage") should serve as executive producer and maybe Zack Sydner ("300", "Watchmen" and "Dawn of the Dead 2004") can serve as director.
It could be a very faithful big screen adaptation of the cult fantasy novel by Peter S. Beagle in a different kind of way that is visual much like "300", "Lord of the Rings" or "Sin City". Afterall fantasy has made a big comeback thanks to the successes of "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings", "Beowulf", "Golden Compass", "Spiderwick Chronicles", "Pan's Labyrinth" and even "Hellboy 1 & 2" as this could be it. New Line Cinema with Universal should do this project and here's my ideal cast: Molly Grue: Glen Close. King Haggard: Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund, Tobin Bell ("Saw Series"), Ian Mckellen or Patrick Stewart. Lady Amalthea: Some cute talented platinum blonde chick. Schmendrick: Adrien Brody. Mommy Fortuna: Linda Hunt. Voice of Butterfly: Doug Jones. Prince Lir: Cicilian Murphy. |

Ummm.....yes.
Whether it be live action or not, it could do with updating for a new generation of kids to appreciate (along with the Black Cauldron). Most kids or even "family" films from recent years focus on the happy moral cutesy story. Would be nice to see a bit of diversity - bring back Watership Down! |

Re: They should do a live-action Last Unicorn remake.
I have no problem showing The Last Unicorn to kids now, so why would it need a remake? As for The Black Cauldron, yes, I think they could redo that, considering the Disneyfication of the novel it left out and changed many things from the novel.

Sorry, DJ, I don't care for any of those actors or actresses to play any of those characters.

Re: They should do a live-action Last Unicorn remake.
Honestly, I wouldn't bother making a live-action film, all they seem to do in Hollywood is ruin all the memories of previous films.
