Question "The DARK CRYSTAL" sequel discussion thread.(?)

Last night I read this report about a sequel to "The DARK CRYSTAL" being made? Does anyone here know the validity of this? I think, personally, that the makers of this sequel should take Mr.Harris' advice to Sally regarding her accursed fireplace,& follow that same advice concerning a "TDC" sequel.

"Some things are better left as they are."

I mean,why ruin "The DARK CRYSTAL"'s uniqueness as being both prequel-less & sequel-less?

What? Have you been reading AICN at 3am and believeing them, hmmm?

(Though no I wouldn't put it past anyone to do that, but I would check the puppet guru's first for the most reliable info)

This was reported in SFX magazine. Jim Henson's effects company wanted it to be stressed that they're using puppets and not CGI. They've built a puppet of one of the main characters that looks about 10 years older, apparently. No mention of plot, if I recall.

An old but superbly awesome Jim Hensen movie.

Me too.

I honestly don't know where I stand with a sequel just yet. But, honestly, how the hell would they pull it off? I mean the way it ended really left no room for a sequel.

It's a good movie, but again, the ending left no actual room for a sequel, considering what happened to the Skeksis and the Mystics at the end.

What is The Dark Crystal? It's a brilliant Sci-fi fantasy adventure from Jim Henson that is unique, thought-provoking and different, if you need a break from CGI then see this movie, it's unlike any movie there was! i always adored this movie since i was young, it's definitely much better then Jim Henson's somewhat gay "Labyrinth" which stole some of the film's limelight.

I can't wait for the sequel, if only they put out a teaser when Harry Potter 5 comes uot.

With the resurgance of the Fantasy genre, what with LOTR, Harry Potter, Narnia, Eragon et al, there might actually be a market for this.

We actually watched Dark Crystal at our SF and Fantasy club not long ago. Those giant insect things still scare the crap out of me, and it'd been about ten years since I'd seen it.

But yes, it's a film that's well worth watching. I'm not sure how they're gonna manage a sequal either.

Just read the latest 'Wizard' magazine that gives the scoop on all the films coming for 2007 and 08, and surprisingly, there is 'Power of the Dark Crystal" coming soon. Hmmmm....something about a fire being taking a shard of the Crystal to re-ignite her dying sun.

Actually, it is not so brilliant movie, if we're talking about its plot. On that level it is very basic and not very surprising at all. But if we're talking about the visuals... Wow. Those guys made it about three years and had big problems to make it look as perfect as it is. It is truly the most fantastic puppet movies ever.

What becomes to this sequel thingie... Hmmm... That would be very risky.

World of Warcraft recently released their new expansion pack and one on the new NPC races is a direct rip off of the sxesis. I'll Take a Screen shot to prove it.
