The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Based on the best-selling book by Douglas Adams, who also wrote the screenplay, Hitchhiker's Guide begins as Arthur Dent realizes that his house is about to be demolished. He soon learns from Ford Prefect, his friend (who is really an alien), that the whole Earth is going to be destroyed in order to build an intergalactic highway bypass. Luckily, they are able to escape by hitchhiking on board spacecraft with their handy copy of the book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which begins a series of bizarre, hilarious, and (for Arthur) incredibly awkward intergalactic adventures.

Release Date
TBA 2004/2005

Genre
Comedy, Science Fiction

I love the book and I wondered when they were going to make a movie out of the book and it looks like they are.

Did anybody else read the book? Do you think it's a good idea to make it into a movie based on the book?

I've read all the books and thought they were golden.

Though I never have listened to the original radio show. I wonder If if you can still find it...

Re: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

It's good old British humor Drone, some of the best in my opinion. Douglas Adams was a very inventive guy, awsome imagination.

Re: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

NIN is my primary favorite band (Yea Bleedthrough!)

It just now hit me, ouch, that there are areas in the books that are going to be incredibly dificult pull off on the big screen. I do hope they get an awsome team for this one, becuase it's going to be one heck of a chalange.

Re: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

HHGG was originally written as a BBC radio show, the books were derived from that, then turned into a dodgy tv series in the 80s. A new movie with the fx they can do these days is bound to be amazing! But would such random british humour work for the americans, would it be a UK producion? Hmm, I better go have a look at that other thread first eh!
