Wink Alternative ending

For those who aren't aware of it, T2 was initially considered to be able to watched twice, as two different films.

James Cameron did in fact make an alternative plotline/ending to the familiar T2 ending we all know and love. This ending is NOT to be mistaken as the future coda ending, in which on the DVD of T2 you can see Sarah and John Connor in a happy future.

No...

This 'other' alternative ending is only available through messing around with either your DVD or VHS copy of T2.

This is the plot for the Special Alternative T2 edition- Imagine if the T800 had been sent by Skynet to kill John Connor, and the T1000 was the Terminator the resistance had reprogramed to protect John.

To see this alternative ending simply watch right up to the Mall scene and then just as the T800 takes out the shotgun from the box of roses as the T1000 runs after John in the corridor, you need to find a shotgun sound effect, play it, then skip to the credits at the end of the film.

By doing all this, you can see this alternative film and it's tragic ending the way Cameron wanted you to be able to see it. It's a shame the T1000 didn't get to John in time, and now there will never be a resistance or T3 for that matter!

Re: Alternative ending

Actually, what you are pointing out is a dramatic twisting of facts and events in an effort to create a major revelation/plot twist midway through the film (one that the third trailer ruined if you saw it). Prior to the mall scene where the T-1000 lays there with those shotgun blast holes and then heals, gets up, and moves on, we see nothing to give us any kind of indication that he is a terminator, let alone some new, shape shifting terminator. In fact, when he attacks the police officer at the beginning of the film, it doesn't appear that he kills him, just knocks him out with a powerful stomach blow, steals his clothes and his car. Ever wonder why the T-1000 had to travel back naked? Are the clothes he appears to have on really clothes or just altered liquid metal? And when Arnie pumped him full of lead the first time, why did he fall down, like he was dead? He didn't do that later in the film. In fact, had he taken the blows, healed, and kept persuing, he could have caught John and accomplished his mission.

Anyway, the entire film up until that point makes Arnie out to be the baddie again and Robert Patrick out to be another Reese. The tension of the mall scene plays heavily on this notion toward what was supposed to be a wow! payoff, our realization that Robert Patrick is the terminator and Arnold is the good guy.

I know your post was probably a joke, but it kind of makes sense if you think about it.

Re: Alternative ending

But if the resistance did reprogram and send a T-1000, why would the machines send a lowly T-800?

actually in the t2 se dvd it says in the booklet that the strategy for the advertisement of the film was to first show that there were 2 terminators, then several weeks to show that arnold was the good guy. however it does seem like patrick was another reese. none the less, you get the sense that arnold is good when he enters the bar, he doesn't kill anyone. sure he knocks a guy through the window then stabs another, but he doesn't kill anyone. after coming out of the bar with 'bad to the bone' in the air, u get the sense of light heartedness/comedy, and then he rips the guys shotgun away from him and instead of ripping his arm into his chest cavity, he takes the shades from the mans shirt.

as opposed to- the t1000, who as u said punches the guy and then walks away. we get the impression that he killed the cop.

LOL, i didn't really intend to trick anyone into thinking it was a hidden feature on a DVD.

It was just another silly post which i thought would lighten the mood of the forums a bit. I mean the whole idea that you have to RE-EDIT a film to see 'another' special version is slightly humorous right? In a stupid, eccentric kind of way

Re: Alternative ending

Just a little thing to do with when the T-1000 punches the cop in the stomach at the beginning. When the camera cuts to a pulled back shot of the T-1000 kneeling over the cop checking the pistol, you can see a dark pool of blood surrounding the cop on the floor. Therefore, right from the start, you can see he's pretty evil, if your eyes are good enough that is. It's clearer and easier to see on the DVD version. Plus, when he kills him, you can hear the flesh cutting sound effect.............................................just.
