A book idea
I've been writing a book with a friend of mine, and i just wanted to know what people thought of the idea.
It starts off with an old man reading a paper and watching the news. In both we see headlines of murder and war. The man is a priest, and at his church, he sees that the turnout is smaller than its ever been. We see (or read) that the earth is slowly turning evil, and is on the brink of self destruction. Now is when it starts getting a little religious(simply because i wanted it to). In the spot where the garden of eden was at one time, There is a huge explosion. The shockwave encircles the world, causing catastrauphic damage. The world powers begin pointing fingers, and an alliance system is formed, followed by a world war. In the aftermath of the war, the dead begin to rise, and kill off most of the survivors. A group of American soldiers is holed up in a building in some once large city, now in ruins. The undead are roaming about the city. The soldiers are running out of food and ammunition. On the radio, they catch a transmission from a military convoy, which is outside the city. The book is pretty much the soldiers trying to make it out to the convoy. And everybody dies. |

Re: A book idea
Ooooooookay....
1. Garden of Eden? An actual place on Earth??? 2. Explanation for the dead rising? 3. Why would a group of American soldiers still be in a building when everyone else is dead? Is America the only country capable of having people alive? 4. I like the ending where everybody dies . It sets it up nicely for the lack of sequel. ![]() |

Re: A book idea
The garden of eden is supposed to be a real place on earth. And the biblyologist people think they know where it is.
I should have explained a little more. If you've ever read the bible, the part about the great flood, God said he would never cleanse the world with water again. The book is about the end of the world, and this is how God does it. We never come right out and say its God, but we give enough hints that most people can guess. The explosion and the rising of the dead are from God. He uses this as a new method to cleanse the world, and kill everyone off. The dead rise up and hunt down the living, just to make a good cleaning. America is the setting because i'm an american, so i don't have to research locations and look stuff up, its easier that way.America isn't the only country capable of having survivors, its just that this is where the story takes place. These soldiers may or may not be the only survivors left in the city, we don't know. |

Re: A book idea
I think the story needs some aliens thrown in... a team of alien super heros, who end up fighting god in a battle to the finish.... in the end though they loose... and a super villian named bob... comes up behind god... kills god and takes over.... and is really really evil

Re: A book idea
I like the idea dermos but in light of the recent Dawn of the Dead remake and Shaun of the Dead it could be too soon for another Zombie orientated story. I like the garden of eden theme thatll get the bible bashers backs up. Keep at it and let us know how its going.

Re: A book idea
Really, one of the whole reasons behind this damn idea was because of how you never really know the reason for the zombies in Ramero's zombie trilogy. So we came up with an idea and that, to us, was a good reason for them. We threw in the war and stuff so it wouldn't be strickly zombie. I think it works.

Re: A book idea
I think some sort of virus (organic or man made?) was the cause of the living dead outbreak in Ramero's movies.

Re: A book idea
As Merlin said, it might just be a little too soon to focus on the Zombie/ Survival aspect...
However, being the big desperately interesting paradox that I am, I find the Book of Revelations fascinating, so if you leaned a bit further towards the apocalyptic aspect of it (The sea giving up its dead sounds pretty freaky to see, right?) it could be interesting... |

Yes. It sounds so exciting. Perhaps, however, it would be somewhat nice if some people live. Don't you think. Just asking. |
