The monster in this film still gives me the occasional nightmare. Damn you John Carpenter! LOL

Re: Original Movie Poster 1982
Shame about the frankly naff poster, though.
Although, on the other hand, it's pretty creepy ... and I'm not sure what else they could have done. spoiling it and showing a glimpse of The Thing would have been crap. |

Unfortunately, that's what they did in my VHS cover, which had an even lamer poster. In fact, I don't think it's even a proper poster, just a really bad, lazy front cover. It was a screenshot of the Spider-Head Thing with the title above it. Incredibly lame and cheap-looking. This poster is much better, but still very poor. Don't like those weird-looking, giant ice cubes much. |

Re: Original Movie Poster 1982
I don't think it's naff, it's a very comic book pose, but it's an 80s film, a Carpenter 80s film, you know...the King of Cheese? Even as a horror it still had a hefty dose (Russel just can't help it, he doesn't know how to act any other way - which is why he's entertaining).

Re: Original Movie Poster 1982
I think that this poster is much better than the newer DVD cover, which I think that most Carpenter fans were not to happy about the change

Re: Original Movie Poster 1982
Is the new cover the one that pretty much matches the cover of the video game? Because that one's alright. Not much better than alright.
I'm hard to please sometimes ![]() |

Re: Original Movie Poster 1982
I think this might be my favourite Carpenter movie. It sued to eb Escape Frpm New York, but now I'm not so sure. Then again, my favourite changed to Precinct 13 every now and then.
Those three films are easily Carpenter's best. I've seen most of his filmography now, and I think that this may have also been his last great one (not seen Christine yet though). I always preffered early, dark Carpenter than later, cheesy Carpenter. |

Re: Original Movie Poster 1982
Christine's nowhere near as good as The Thing or Escape from New York. It's ok, better than In the Mouth of Madness
but not much better than 'ok'.I think I'm the only person who thinks Halloween is an incredibly overrated film of his ![]() |

It's overrated, but not incredibly. The steadicam work and the soundtrack are superb.

Re: Original Movie Poster 1982
great poster, themed very much on those B-rated 50s pulp SF movies.
Definitely one of Carpy's better movies and I don't think he's done anything better since then imho |
