Go to Virgin 1 website aaaaaaaand nada - the crap tacula site doesn't even all you to search it. You can search google but not the site DUMB.

Also - deja vu. Sure I've asked someone about this before when it's supposed to air, and sure sharkey said first qtr this year, but apparently not. SHARKY!!!! When's it gonna be on?

Well, I'm not Sharky, but Summer Glau is in this, so I'll have to do...

There is a makeshift pilot already floating around the internet somewhere, but the first proper episode of the show, a two parter, has just been broadcast in the US, today and yesterday evening.

Advance word is all good. Really good. "Awesome. Really, really awesome." It's short on character development, working on the assumption that you are already familiar with the characters, and it has it's own continuity, meaning, as Sharky will no doubt be delighted about, it's ignoring T3 entirely.

The show's production was caught up in the writer's dispute, hence the delay, but I understand that at least ten or so episodes have been made.

Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

Okay, I've seen parts one and two and my opinion is considerably mixed. The new Sarah Connor is a total bore and appears to have all the acting prowess of a 2x4. She's dull, totally inept in being dramatic and her voice overs remind me so much of Harrison Ford's montone, wasted voice over in Blade Runner. It's also very poorly written (Star Wars Prequels pooly, if you get my drift), almost embarassing some of the lines they come up with. particularly in the voice overs. On top of that, you at least want to, if even in a small way, close your eyes an imagine that Sarah Connor from the T1 and T2 is the same Sarah Connor in the television series but you can't - there's no resemblance at all, not style, no look, nothing. It's as if she John's step mother or something.

Come to think of it, the entire show, dialogue wise, is poorly written. The plot, though contrived, has a ton of potential though I have a feeling it's going to get messy - lets just say that the highway back thru time is about to get seriously congested and already has. Here's the jist to give you an idea - a machine from the future comes to the past to take John and Sarah back to the future but not all the way back (just, conveniently, to 2007) to undo some of the plot points in the wasted dissapointment that was Terminator 3 and in doing so, get this, REBOOTS the story line - yep, you heard it, REBOOT! That's the best news I can give you concerning this new series - that they pretty much wiped out T3!

Honestly, I found the first two episodes boring as hell with some occassional action to break up the monotony (flipping back and fourth between American Gladiators didn't hurt either) but even the action scenes seemed like poor rip-offs of the films, "terminator fighting" - you know, holding on to each other's arms and slamming thru drywall. There's also a ton of stuff just tossed out the window (like why do the terminators now all look different - or how in the hell can a terminator walk around and "think" without a head - dumbest thing I've seen yet, or why no more advanced models?). But, when you REBOOT, there essentially is no window and nothing to toss out of it so everything is game I suppose.

So, yeah, maybe not mixed, maybe dissapointed as hell, but then again, I wasn't expecting much. All I can say is how many more days till LOST comes back on???

[continue rant]Oh, and as for Summer Glau - I suppose that's where I am torn. The whole character is totally absurd but there's an edge to her I kind of like at this point. I'm also raising my eye brows at the subtle hint that John is actually starting to lust after her, or it.

Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

I've also seen the two episodes.

Seems like a watchable series, I agree with Sith on Sarah Connor and the potential of the plot. In my opinion the terminators are absolutely f*cking lame and the terminator on terminator fights, geeezh. John's personal protector is alright. In the second episode the terminator that John, Sarah and the termintorchick suppoedly destroyed, wasn't destroyed! The head of that terminator got severed and actually traveled forward in time with J,S and TC. Well what do ya know, some guy cleaning the sides of a highway happens to pick it up, later it gets turned on. Then the body of the terminator gets up from a scrapheep on some junkyard, and goes looking for it's heads and retrieves it from the guy who found it. I mean wtf!11 C'MON!!! JESUSFCKINGCHRIST! In the current lack of better television shows, I think I am going to keep watching this.

Yep, I would bet money on it that John sent himself a sexbot.

Did the question of why didn't the machines imbed futuristic weapons inside of flesh to get them back thru time get answered in the first episode? I guess not! After all, why would he shove a typical, 9mm into his chassis and not something a little heftier.

And BTW - Sharky's Terminator Time Line - you can pretty much wad that up and toss it in the trash bud.

Saw my first episode tonight (which happened to be the 2nd) and how irritating is the voice over - not to mention Sarah herself? Firefly girl is scarily like a robot though and the effects in the tease for the next episode look good.

Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

I apologize for the spoilage - here in the US, that was pretty much established from the first commercial, that Glau was a terminator.

I've given this mess of series too many chances. There are some oooooh moments here and there but it's a boring show that poorly acted and written and I can't imagine it surviving much longer when there are so many better SciFi shows on television these days.

I think it's rather unfortunate that the weakest element of The Chronicles of Sarah Connor is widely agreed to be Sarah Connor.

Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

Definately a poor choice for Sarah. I was thinking that Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica would have been a good choice, or someone in the same vein, tough and sexy. The ultimate downfall is the writing. The dialogue is horrible. It's very much a case of writing their way from revelation A to revelation B - hoping that their patented Terminator moments will cover its amateur scripting. It kills me that this show is getting a pass while the much superior Jericho is again on the chopping block.

I think I hated Starbuck at first. In the end, when I finally gave up on that ridiculous soap opera of a SciFi show, she was one of the few things I still liked about the series.

I love BG, but even I'm more than irriated with the soap-ishness of the last season - did have a few moments though. Really hope it picks back up next season, but kinda worried with the ending of Starbuck's pyrrhic return & the constand reinforcement of 'this has happened before' - pushing the religious philosophy too much.

Chronicles I keep trying to remind myself to give it a decent shot, but never quite happens as I get bored and wander off. Shame, Glau is fabulous as ever and even the boy looks like he could be half decent.

Pick up the box set and watch it in one go. It's surprisingly difficult to keep up with everything week-in, week out. Is it wrong that I find Cameron - not Glau, actually Cameron - eerily attractive?

Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

nope. cameron (not Glau) is absolutely cool. id venture so far as to say she's the best part of the show, and I'm not even gay. I keep watching it thinking "wonder what cameron is going to do now?" They phased her out of a lot of episodes in the 2nd season, and I found it more boring.

somebody told me that Lena Headley is a Brit. Is that true? Americans 1, Brits 0 - at least on this show. Sarah is irritating, and I think I've ranted on about her in other forums to my hearts content, but no one listens. She's too....momish. I almost wonder if they hoped to draw in real housemoms to the show by how weak and needy they made her. I can remember watching it thinking, my own mom isnt that much of a pansy! Grow a pair, Sarah! The death knell for Sarah for me was when John had to kill the attacker because Sarah was too much a softy to get the job done. And SHE'S the protector? Give me a break. Jessie has a bigger pair than Sarah.

the whining from here is another drawback. hate the whining! frankly, i always thought of her as the strong, silent type anyway, so the whining is really irritating.

Re: Coming Soon - The Chronicles of Sarah Connor!

As far as I know, I know she's in a couple of upcoming BBC dramas.

She really is an unbelievably bad actress though. I swear, the Connor guy would be alright if he didn't have to act opposite her, and Glau is carrying this show for me.
