Re: Chicken Run
I saw this movie on the sci-fi channel last night…
You cannot fully appreciate the recent clay-animation film, Chicken Run, without first seeing the film that it parodied. It not only followed the basic plot line of ‘When Worlds Collide’, but it actually completely recreated some scenes, the escape ship, and most major characters (in chicken form, of course.) Even w/o this WWC is still a good SF flick. Seeing it wont kill you, and as this is the first post in this forum, I assume that few here have. |

Re: Chicken Run
I do not see the strong connection between "when worlds collide" and "Chicken run". WWC is a favourite of mine--been a while since I watched - you've made me curious.

Appologies--Unregistered was me, forgot to login.
Chicken Run-- is about escape from certain death-- this it has in common with WWC. One of the big issues of WWC was the choosing of who would have a place on the "ship". In chicken run all of them got out, yes? |

Re: Chicken Run
Try watching both films back to back. You will undoubtfully notice that certain scenes in Chicken run are obvious parodies of their anologs in the older film. The inside-of-the-ship and coming-out-to-see-the-new-world scenes currantly come to mind. Some of the characters and the relationships between them are also strikingly similar.

Re: Chicken Run
About the characters:
1) The cocky American pilot. 2) His love interest: the atractive but serious and assertive daughter of the Grand Old Man of the lab, or coop. 3) The old man. I have not seen either film in a while, so you will have to excuse me for anything that I missed. So Charlie, did you see both films yet? |

Re: Chicken Run
Hi SF - no longer have a copy of "when world's collide"--some rat taped over it when I loaned it out....
never lend a valued tape or book. It is on my list of stuff to do and find. What I do remember --is the main character who flew the planes and the spaceship in WWC-- was very much like "Rocky". |

Re: Chicken Run
Hey! Sci -Fi are you there?
I watched a "beat up" old copy of When worlds Collide last night. This morning I dipped into Chicken Run. I agree with you there are strong similarities in characters and scenes. Nick Parks must have been a SF buff? |

Re: Chicken Run
Hi Rogue-- you need to have seen "when world's collide" and old film, to get a feel for the similarities.. I didn't see the connections at first--but they are there.. The main theme being - escape -
