Visiting Briar Summit Dr.
OK, it took about 3 years for someone to tell us where Dutch's hideout was located. As we all know now its at the end of Briar Summit Drive in the Hollywood Hills.
Well, today I was in Studio City on business and decided to check it out. I approached from the San Fernando Valley taking Laurel Canyon Blvd to Mulholland to Briar Summit Dr. You will all be pleased to hear that you can get within 30 feet of the building used as the hideout. If you are brave enough, you can hop the fence (marked "armed response" for trespassing) and walk the machine gun turret area and the front of the building. Briar Summit ends with a fence across the road, but you can walk around it and walk about 1/4 mile to the summit. There are signs saying it is a public park and the road to the top is open. At the top is another fence that is less than 30-40 feet from the building. The area is totally overgrown with trees and weeds. It looks like it is used by the DWP for some reason. The fence around the area is in poor shape and it looks like people hop it to drink beer or party in the area. The hill Dutch falls down is overgrown by tall grass. I couldnt even tell if there was a stair and railing there. I will be heading back in the near future with my camera to document the trip. Speedy Bob...you can visit it during a long lunch break from work. If you guys have any specific questions let me know. Andy |

Re: Visiting Briar Summit Dr.
Congrats, Andy! That is great news. Hey, why don't we meet up over the weekend -- I can bring my video camera and we can film you rolling down the hill shouting, "it works! it works!"

Andy - that's great news, especially the part about public access to the top! If the railing IS still there, I want a piece. I'll pay your bail. Does the brick building still look the same? Can't wait for some pictures. Thanks for the Rambo mission & report!

Re: Visiting Briar Summit Dr.
In the 6th picture you can get an idea where the gate is. There is a fence that comes to the edge of the road and the gate basically goes across from there. Thanks for posting these Mike. I will go my best to get the same angles.

Re: Visiting Briar Summit Dr.
Andy - would that mean that your view of the building from the fence (facing the building) would like be photo #2?

Re: Visiting Briar Summit Dr.
Yes, that looks about right. Can you do a couple of screen captures of Neville when they ride the motorcycle up the winding road?
