GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Set 10 years in the future, this is supposed to be what will be seen during the Superbowl tomorrow. I have a bad feeling about this.

G.I. Joe was a great comic book, one of the first comic books to really start to tell its story on an adult level, paving the way, imho, for the graphic novel revolution.

The toys and the 80's cartoon, yeah, I could do without. And what's with the fake six pack (ab muscles) in the armor? How ridiculous does that look? Obviously we're "borrowing" the whole dark knight look. It looks like a cross between The Dark Knight, Spider-Man, and Blade.

Well the film will have that "Batman Begins" and "Dark Knight" feel of realism including the costumes.

I agree with Op on this one. This film is being played as an over the top rehash of X-Men or something like it. G.I. Joe was never intended to be a group of superheroes, not even Snake Eyes, who, according to the trailer, can fly through the air and jump on the moving cars like Spiderman!

It may not suck horribly but I don't see the material being taken seriously here. Frankly, the REAL story in the comics involved Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow - the hard master, Scarlett, Destro - they were all a part of the core story. The rest was just fluff.

I still find it disturbing that Devil's Due lost the comic license to IDW and they're rebooting the entire story. Even with Larry Hama's input and story's.

that's because by now they all probably imagine that we would find normalcy boring. i always liked GIJoe, in that way that you liked the A-Team. Hope they dont totally destroy it.

Any longtime fans been watching G.I joe Resolute? opinions?

(the animation quality looks good, from proper trailers but im having to watch a compressed youtube version, because of cross boarder restrictions on adult swim)

I have seen 8 episodes of the 10 and I have to say they are pretty good, the backstory shown for Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow ignore the original storyline though. It is pretty impressive with the actual deaths involved. This is GI Joe, adult style

Looks kinda dull to me, whatever happened to Christopher Eccleston being in good things, and I don't mean Dr. Who.

Just as you say looks like the same old stuff re-hashed not quite as well. Though I am going to see X-men origins tomorrow, so it should be intereseting to see how that actually turns out!
