Spiffy...

Alrighty... some people are obviously not in touch with Scifi Comedy. It's a hard genre to do, as most people are not looking to laugh at a SciFi movie. It's dumb, it's pointless... but it's also funny as all hell.

I group this one with classics like Ice Pirates, and The Pirate Movie. It's making fun of a whole genre here... and thusly, is going to be silly and dumb. The acting is on par for the concept. The jokes, while dumb, are funny as all hell. Especially the Light Grenade, "He DOES know father..", and the whole concept of a giant magnet dragging a car through space.

Go, rent Ice Pirates, Erik the Viking, The Pirate Movie, Waxworks II, and Cabin Boy. These are this movie's peers. If you like one, you'll like them all. It's not meant to be Hamlet here people... it's meant to be so dumb it's funny.

For a funny (as opposed to just plain dumb) SF comedy, go see Spaceballs.

Do not ... EVER ... compare this movie to Erik the Viking again, or I'll have you executed for sheer gall

There is a difference between a witty movie that points out and makes fun of all the cliches of a genre (like SpaceBalls and Galaxy Quest) and a brainless movie that's just plain unfunny.

And if you don't like my opinions ... I'll just say them again. LOUDER.
