Re: dark helmet and lone starr
Dark Helmet all the way - he was a better-fleshed-out character than Lonestar, who was just a cardboard cutout
Of course, that could be the way Lonestar is meant to be - to fit in with the cheap Space Opera image "Evil will always triumph because good is dumb" |

Neither. Dark Helmet was funnier than Lone Starr but the last one was the handsome hero, so...

Re: dark helmet and lone starr
Dark Helmet was perfect. I couldn't believe my eyes when he first appeared on the screen. A little menacing at first and then his guards stood back and we realised how tiny he was.....

Re: dark helmet and lone starr
You should have put a "Both" vote in there, so I could pick it. I liked them both. I thought that their characters were funny and worthwile to watch.
"Have you sound anything yet?" "We ain't found s***!" |

Re: dark helmet and lone starr
As the question is 'who is better?', a 'both' option would not make sense. If you think that one is not better than the other, then you should pick 'neither'. If both are equally good, then neither is better.

Re: dark helmet and lone starr
Good point Sf, thanks. I'll be sure to think of that the next time I make a poll.
Then I change my vote to neither. They were both equally better than the other (now figure THAT one out). |

Re: dark helmet and lone starr
I vote for the giant spaceship at the beginning of the film. That was hilarious, totally ripping on Star Wars. The ship goes on and on and you can hear the music restarting a few times. Then the license plate: "We brake for no one".

Re: dark helmet and lone starr
I don't know if the ship qualifies as a character or not. Well, I guess that if Strauss's music can be a character in 2001, then the ship can be a character in Spaceballs!

I think its just hella great how Helmet overpronounces things in that Vader-style voice. His pronounciation of "May I speak with you please?" always gets me laughing madly.
