There's so much that can be done for a sequal. Why is it not being made?

Re: Where's The Sequal???
No sequel, please. The one and the only it will be (I hope).
It contains everything what u can say about SW. And a bit about Indiana Jones. |

Re: Where's The Sequal???
I suppose the first one was a perfect spoof. All the right pieces fell together, but today parodies have been kind of...well...sh****. But there is a lot of things that could be done.

Re: Where's The Sequal???
Who was Spede, then?
I'm going to take a wild guess and say he was someone who made movies in your language, right? I'm wary of sequals. Spaceballs : The Sequal MIGHT work ... but there is such a huge possibility of it following the tradition of todays spoofs and being sh*t ... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh I dunno. |

There is no sequel because "Spaceballs" was a financial failure. I don't believe there is any director or producer who is willing to finanically risk making another "Spaceballs" film. I certainly don't think Mel Brooks wants to do it again. Mel Brooks is now enjoying the success of the broadway version of his film "The Producers". That has been a huge hit. With a successful Tony winning muscial why would he want to redo a film that failed at the box office?

Re: Where's The Sequal???
It may not have done well at the box office, but it seems to be a classic today.

Re: Where's The Sequal???
Try to convince a Producer of that. I doubt you'll have any success. It may have a small following of fans, but not enough to risk millions of dollars on a sequel. Don't take my word for it. Ask movie producers if they would risk it. I would be surprized if any director or movie producer would take the risk.

Re: Where's The Sequal???
SMALL?! Its huge! it is one of the most recodnized films among my generation, which by the way is the holy grail of marketing. While the original took some years to build up a following it is there now and it has been for YEARS! The time is now! Add that to the SW prequel bandwagon and you have a major sucesess on your hands!

Re: Where's The Sequal???
If you can convince a movie producer to back the project you might get your wish. However, I seriously doubt that will happen. You need to find producers willing to invest millions of dollars in a sequel. They won't be looking a figures on how large fan support might be they will look at how well the original film did financially. It did not do well. Producers want to make money quickly on a film. They don't want to wait years for a fan base to grow in support of a film. I know you and other fans would like a sequel, but I believe the chances of that happening are almost nonexistant.
