I saw that movie 4 times. I know the answer to that question. The song was "When i'm calling you." by Slim Whitman

It was indeed slim whitman, but the song was indian love call. it was from 1952

Ugh, bad song. I don't know, it was like listening to a dog getting whipped. That is what it sounded like. A very horrible sound indeed. They should have played, to kill the aliens, something like Metallica. Something hardcore to kill the aliens.

I think that they should have played the Nelson Eddy & Jeannette MacDonlad version instead (the same song was in their 30's musical, Rose Marie).

ehhh... The yodeling was one of the stronger elements of humor in the flick... to replace it with metallica would have, i don't know... it wouldn't have been the same!

Ok, I'll admit, the yodeling was very funny. It brought the movie to a full halt, people do not expect that sort of thing in a movie. I probably could have figured it out, but I too was taken by surprised.
