Couple Of Questions

At the end of 3, marty goes back to 1985 leaving the doc in 1885. But the doc then comes back to see marty. But it is not possible for him to do that, as the technology of 1885 would not allow the doc to build a new time machine out of the train.

What do you guys think???

The hover board is the key. He got what he needed from it. Remember how he saved the teacher lady flying with it.

Re: Couple Of Questions

HE could have just got the Delorean that he previously concealed in that cave thing, but then... there would be no time machine for Marty to find in the future, but since Marty had already got back and destroyed his then... wait no. Ok Never mind.

Re: Couple Of Questions

Marty asked Doc if he was going to go back to the future and doc said no already been there. You can take that line and tell that doc had went to the future and they hover converted the train.

Re: Couple Of Questions

Doc said it ran on steam. Not sure what parts your're referring to since the technical workings of the time machine and the flux capaciter were (thankfully) left out of the films and left up to our imaginations. If Doc can build a time machine out of materials found in 1985 and make essential repairs to it with materials found in 1955, why not 1885?

The real question is, after all the fuss he made about Marty destroying the time machine...why did he go and make another one? And it seems to make sense that Doc, being in his late 50's in 1885 would live well into the 20th century...in Hill Valley. It seems he would run the risk of running into his own parents and, in a twist of fate, preventing his own birth sometime in the 1930's.
