Now this movie had some issues: the mentally challenged kid wasn't handled that great, the constant switching in gears wit the pace, and a b-movie feel towards the end (still got a kick out of that one though). But this movie had me in it the whole way. I thought aliens were cool, the premise with the boys who recieved the special "gifts," the overall intensity, and Morgan Freeman.
This movie would also have some great dialogue then some not so good dialogue, which is like ok, whatever. I also don't think this film is for everyone. i don't think too many people will get passed the whole aliens coming out of people's rectums. Some old guy came out of the theater when his show was over and looked at my friend and I and said "don't go see that." I automatically assumed it must be the "ass weasel" I've heard so much about. I also have heard people who really liked the movie as well, so... I really felt Stephen King throughout this movie. It had his whole vibe marked all over it. I know since Kubrick's THE SHINING, he's wanted to have some participation in every production of his movies. A lot of it may have come from its soundtrack (very spooky!!). I may have been the only person who actually adored how the alien in this film had an English accent. I've always thought there was something scary about that accent. It was great fun listening to him talk and use those facial expressions. I had fun with the final scene of the movie. For some it may seem a little B-move like, but it seemed different enough for me, so i went for it. But the last two seconds of the movie just before the credits is kind of ackward. I'm glad they added in a scene with the credits with the men at the table, it lessoned the weirdness of the last two seconds before it. All in all, a flawed movie with laughs, action, suspense, and fun. 7/10 Last edited by JACKER : May 25, 2003 at 01:22 PM. |

Re: A Flawed Good Movie
The first 56 pages.
It is good, but I had other books I wanted to read first. I will start back up again with DREAMCATCHER within the next week or so. I actually do think the DREAMCATCHER DVD should be a cool buy for the collection, whenever that comes out. |

Re: A Flawed Good Movie
What was the whole deal with the power that the one guy had, when he twirled his finger and made a little CGI tunnel with it? What did that have to do with anything?

Re: A Flawed Good Movie
I still think it was pretty dumb i even thought the book was pretty stupid but i think when u read a book and then see the film it recks what u think a certain thing would look like. If the filmmakers do it badly that is.
Its Like my firends some had read the LOTR books and when they seen the movie they thought it was good but it spoiled all thier depictations of the LOTR's World. |

I also thought their powers were explained quite well. The line was really cool. I would like a way to find anything. Gold here I come.
The telepahty was cool too. I also liked how Mr. Grey had a british accent. It made him sound inherintly more evil. For not reading the book I thought Duddits was really good. His beinng an alien at the end was sorta predictable though. |

Re: A Flawed Good Movie
What kind of alien was he? Was he born and raised by his parents or what? And on a completely different note: I loved the whole storage room thing where Jonesy kept all the things he didn't want to get rid of and how that's where he was when the alien invaded his body.

The movie made it seem like he came down and was sorta adopted by his mother.
The storage place was awesome. I loved those scenes. |

I loved this movie. I thought it was pretty great. Sure it seemed a bit flimsy from time to time, but I really enjoyed this, greatly entertaining for me. Haven't read the book. It really makes me want to...so maybe I'll read it... someday, someday.

We rented the movie last week. I enjoyed it and didn't find it to be as bad as some had said and has reviews had let on. The ending was a bit odd, but my b/f who has read the book liked the movie ending better. Strange but good

I liked the movie and I really liked Mr. grey. You say the book ended differently? Well that seams to happen to alot of Kings books turned into movies.
